Mr. Datars, who was also a
neighbour of Mr. Riddell and a
friend, had complained recently
about bouts of indigestion and
despite Mr. Riddell’s urging to see
a doctor, had insisted on Friday he
was feeling well. He drove the
minister to appointments in Lon
don and then to a Liberal gathering
at Geneva Park on Lake Couchich-
ing near Orillia.
He returned to the Orillia hotel
and was later found dead by a hotel
maid. He was 55 years of age.
