Finnigan Picnic
About 65 de'scendants of the late
John Finnigan and Mary , Jane
McMath held their annual family
reunion on Sunday, July 10, at
Lion's Park, Seaforth. A bountiful
smorgasbord dinner was enjoyed '
by all.
In the absence of the president,
Muriel Neil, the past president
Hilda Finnigan conducted the
business meeting. A minute's
silence was observed to honour
family members who had passed
away during the past year.
The president and secretary-
treasurer are to carry on for
another year. Members of the
games committee for 1978 are
Michael and Karen Finnigan. Colin
and Patti Haney and Brian
Finnigan; lunch committee. Kitch-
ener and Annie Finnigan. Gordon
and Elmira Finnigan. It was
decided to have the 1978 picnic in
the Goderich area.
Games and contests were ably
conducted by Annie and Kitchener
Finnigan. Races, under 6 years.
Mahana Finnigan; under 12 years,
Lisa Sallows; card game, Doris
Hitchcock's team; rabbit and
hunter contest, Ron McKnight's
team; candle contest, Don and
Frances McKnight; lady with
whitest hair, Mrs. Nett Finnigan;

Producers phone on Thursdays
at given hours and list their cattle
for sale with OBEX, advising
whether they wish to be listed on a
live weight or carcass weight basis.
A list of all offerings is issued to
every potential buyer in Ontario.
The buyers have from Thursday to
the following Tuesday to inspect
the cattle and record a bid. After 12
noon Tuesday, OBEX presents the
best net bid to the producer who
may accept or refuse. If accepted.
the cattle are sold. Refusal means
the cattle are automatically relisted
for the next week's offering.
Cost of selling will be on a
competitive commission basis.
W. G. Ardy, a native of the
Ilderton area, has been named
manager of the new business.
The six men who have formed
the new organization are Ernest
Ackert, Holyrood; Clarence Ackert,
Kincardine; Willard Calhoun, Har-
vey Davis, Bill Wolfe, Ron Wolfe,
all of Dobbinton.
Mr. an Mrs. Warren Wylds
entertains family and friends,, on
Sunday in honour of Mr. Dan
Wylds 91st birthday. Mr. Wylds is'
still active and goes for daily jaunts
in -his own car. He enjoys go d
health and meeting •friends and
neighbours. "
Congratulations are in orde' for
Russell Moricrief, son of . r. nd
Mrs. George Moncrief, in the
award he received to continue and
complete his course ip Veterinary
medicine at Guelph. Russell will
use the $1000.00 toward his final
year. He is presently an employee
at Ripley with Dr. Donald Hodgins.

patient in hospital in London.

the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.

The MacKenzie reunion was
held on Saturday last with many
visitors from a distance spending
the weekend in this area with
relatives.
