Helm Reunion
At Kincardine
Thirty friends met at Lansdowne
Park in Kincardine on July 24th at
1:15 p.m. for dinner at the 39th
anniversary Helm reunion.
The president, Wilfred Hackett,
spoke a few words of welcome. A
minute's silence was observed in
memory of Mrs. Robert Helm
(Myrtle) and Jack Gardner, both of
Lucknow, who passed away since
the last year reunion. Mrs. Allan
Ritchie read .the minutes and the
treasurer's report. The reunion will
be held at Ashfield Park, the 4th
Sunday in July 1978 at 1.15 p.m.
for dinner.
The officers for 1978 are:
president, Tom Helm; vice presid-
ent, Lloyd Whytock; secretary-
treasurer, Mrs. Allan Ritchie;
sports, Alex Hackett and Jack
Miller; program, Mrs. Lloyd Whyt-
ock, Mrs. Alex Hackett and Mrs.
John MacKinnon; family tree, Mrs.
Jim Hunter; tea, Mrs. Tom Helm
and Mrs. Vernon Hunter; park
committee, Jim Hunter.
The following program took
place. Mrs. Eunice Dunsmuir a
solo, "It is no secret"; Mrs. Tom
Helm, a reading, "Preachers Scare
Crow"; Mrs. Jerry Huizinga, a
solo, "I Know Where I am Going";
Mrs. John MacKinnon gave two
readings, "Family Reunion" and
"Do It Now"; Mrs. Wesley Ritchie,
a reading, "My Neighbours".

Ritchie conducted the, table prizes:

Whytock. A scramble brought the
reunion to a close. Next year is our
40th year so let us all get involved
at Ashfield Park.

Mrs. Ken Alton held the July
21st United Church Women's
meeting at her home in the
evening. Roll call was answered
with "When can I work at the
Lucknow Craft Festival" by 14
members and 2 children present,
In the absence of the president,
Mrs. Donald Hackett opened the
meeting with hymn "0 love that
will not let me go". .
The devotional was taken by
Mrs. Donald Hackett and Mrs.
Lorne Hackett from Bigger Some-
body on "In Humility". Scripture
was . Psalm 51, verses 10 - 18, by
Mrs. Donald Hackett, closing with
prayer by Mrs. Lorne Hackett and
hymn "What a friend we have in
Jesus". Planning took place on the
Craft Festival. The president
passed out at letter to be rewritten
to protest the sale of alcoholic
beverages, to be introduced in
certain areas in Ontario. The Fall
Rally, or Enrichment Day as it is
now called, takes place in October
at Blyth. Mrs. Reg Broome
reported on the bale of sweaters
sent to the needy.
Mrs. Warren Zinn gave the
treasurer's report, on the recent
weddings. The 4-H girl club
leaders were chosen to attend
training school in August. The girls
who reached their Provincial Hon-
ours and Advanced Honours were
each given a cup and saucer from
the Trinity„United Church Women.
Mrs. Charles Wilkins gave a
reading "To a Big Beautiful
Family". Mrs. Ken Alton conduct.
ed a contest on a line of a hymn.
The meeting closed with a hymn,.
"Jesus shall reign" and the
mizpah' benediction.
