Andrew who were married at
Kingsbridge on Saturday, July 9th,
1977. The bride's attendants were:
Maid of Honour, Miss Lissette
VanDiepenbeek, sister of the bride;
bridesmaids were Mary Andrew
and Henriette Mann; flowergirl
was Shauna Andrew. Bill Andrew
was his brother's best man. Ushers
were John Andrew and Frank
VanDiepenbeek; ring bearer was
Andrew Stroh. 111 guests enjoyed
dinner at the Brookside Public
School, followed by an Open
Reception at 9 p:m with music by
Brian Elmslie.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Clare and
Mary Luanne visited on the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Andrew Waechter and Sister
Margaret Andre in Berkley, Michi-
gan.
Ruth Clare of Allegancy, Michi-
gan is visiting this week with
Walter and Mary Clare and
daughter Mary Luanne.
BRIDAL SHOWER.
A large crowd attended the
bridal shower for Miss Bernadine
VanRooy, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. John VanRooy, held at St.
Joseph's Parish Hall at Kings-
bridge on Sunday evening, July
17th. Mistress of ceremonies Miss
Margaret Frayne introduced the
following numbers: songs by Marie
Boyle with guitar accompaniment
by herself; games were played with
Teresa VanRooy, Betty Knoop,
Joanie Smith and Bernadine Van-.
Rooy receiving prizes. Kathy O'Ke-
efe gave a reading. The address
signed by all those present was
read to Bernadine by Margaret !i
Frayne. The bride and her two
sisters, Mary and Diane, were
seated amid bells and streamers as
Mrs. Mary Clare played "Here 1,
Comes the Bride". Bernadine
received many lovely and useful
gifts and in reply thanked everyone
who helped with the program and
the shower and invited all to meet
her new husband at the open
reception to be held at the Legion
Hall in Goderich on Saturday, July
30. Bernadine's marriage to Steph-
en Reaburn, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Eric Reaburn, R. R. 5 Goderich will

Mr. and Mrs. Joe Courtney,
Eric, Floyd and Carl left on Friday,
July 1st by auto for a two week
holiday at Edson, Alberta. While at
Edson they attended the wedding
of their son Brian Courtney to
Jeannette Michaud on Saturday,
July 9th. .
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs.
Gary Dauphin of R. R. 3 Lucknow,
on the birth of a baby daughter on
Thursday, June 23 at the Wingham
and District Hospital.

Miltenburg and his cousin Nolda
DeBruyn of Sudbury left by car on
Sunday. July 3 for a vacation in the
Western Provinces.. Joe and his
brother Ralph of Calgary, Alberta
attended the wedding of their
double first cousin Brian Courtney
to Jeannette Michaud on Saturday,
July' 9th.

Congratulations to Miss Anne
Marie Howard, daughtei of Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Howard, R. R..3
Goderich who will receive the Peter
Adamson Memorial Scholarship for
the highest average in Year 4
(Grade 12) calculated from the
aggregate of six Year 4' subjects.
Her average was 90.5 percent.
Congratulations also to Darrell
Kloeze, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harm
Kloeze, R. R. 3 Goderich who will
receive the. Veteran's Memorial
Scholarship for one of the two
highest averageS calculated from
the aggregate of seven Year 1
(Grade 9) subjects. Darrell's aver-
age was 90.9 percent.
And congratulations to Eric
Courtney, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Courtney of -12. R. 1 Dungannon,
who will receive the Peter Adam-
son Memorial Scholarship for the
highest average in Year 2 (Grade
10) Goderich District Collegiate
Institute. Eric's average calculated
from the aggregate of seven Year 2
subjects was 89.6 percent. These
scholarships will be awarded at
Commencement Exercises held at
the Collegiate in September.
A Murray Gaunt Appreciation
Night was held at Ripley on Friday
evening, July 15. All workers in the
recent election were treated to an
evening's entertainment.
Miss Anne Marie Howard and
Mary Anne Boyle returned to their
homes here following a three week
vacation to Ireland.

Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilkins
have arrived home from a 10 day
motor trip through the Maritimes
to the East Coast.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Raynard
and girls had her girl friend school
chum, Mr. and Mrs. Harry George
and girls of Halifax, Sunday
afternoon. Donna Raynard cele-
brated her birthday on Sunday. She
had her grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Nelson Raynard of Lucknow,
a cousin Brock Raynard and Mr.
and Mrs., Robert. McAllister and
Bill of Auburn for a birthday
supper.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel Swan and
family had her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Emmerton of Kincar-
dine, for Sunday supper. Margaret
Swan had spent the past week with
her grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Ritchie and
Bryce attended the Orange Parade
celebration on Saturday, being held
this year at Bayfield. Also from the
community was Milvert Reid.
The Trinity United Church
Women are holding their regular
meeting on Thursday, July 21st at
the home of Mrs. Ken Alton at 8
p.m.
Harvey Ritchie returned home
from St. Joseph's Hospital, London
on Friday of last week.
A number from this community
attended a trousseau tea,on Sunday
afternoon for Leone Cranston at the
home of her mother Mrs. Jerry
Cranston.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank. Ritchie of
Lucknow flew from London Inter-
national airport on Monday, July 18
to visit with relatives and friends in
the Western Provinces. They plan
to spend some time with their
daughter Anne and Frank Riegling
and family who are now making
their home in Whitelaw, Alberta.
Mr. and Mrs. John Trierweiller
(Catherine Sinnett) and son Paul of
Seattle, Washington arrived on
Saturday, July 16 and are spending
holidays with her cousin Mrs. John
Austin, Mr. Austin and family.
They are also visiting with their
many relatives and friends in this
area.
Mrs. Vincent Austin was admit-
ted to Victoria Hospital, London on
Monday, July 11 and was released
from hospital on the following
Friday, July 15.
Miss Michelle Austin, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Austin,
Miss Debbie Stothers, Bob Rourke
and Steve Park were admitted to
the Alexandra Marine and General
Hospital, Goderich following a
three car and a truck pile up on ,
Highway 21 at Dunlop on Friday
evening, July 15. The two boys
were released on Friday evening.
Miss Austin received a shaking up
and will be released from the
hospital on Monday, July 18. Miss
Stothers received a broken ankle
and was released on Sunday
following surgery on Saturday.
Mrs. Ed Redfern of Royal Oak,
Michigan is spending holidays with
Mrs. Mary Frayne.
Mrs. Betty Frayne visited on the
weekend with her mother, Mrs.
Albert Kraimer at Listowel.
Mrs. Diny Reyenders and son
Jack arrived last week from
Holland to spend four weeks
vacation with her sister Mrs.
Martin Hendriks, Mr. Hendriks
and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Clem Steffler and
family of Whitelaw, Alberta are
spending the month of July
holidays with his brother Mr. and
Mrs. Joe Steffier at Walton and
visiting with their former neigh-
bours and friends in this area.

Congratulations to the boys from
this area who took part in the Bed
Races held on Friday, July 1st,
Canada Day, at the Goderich
Sesquicentennial celebrations. Al-
though they did not come into ,the
winners category, they deserve a
lot of praise for the hours of 'work
and labour put into their efforts.
