PRESENT GIFT
Dr. Albert Rose of Lucknow and
Toronto,' a board member with
Ontario Housing Corporation. pres-
ented a gift to the new . senior
citizens' apartments at the opening
Friday. The tea pot was accepted
by Mrs. Allister (Jean) Hughes. a
resident of the apartments.

Mrs. Bev Kay. Wendy and Graham
and Mrs. Graham of Brampton
were Mr. and Mrs. Howard
McMaster of Palmerston. Mr. and
Mrs. Melville Wanless of Bramp-
ton. Mr. and Mrs. Stan Robinson of
Campbellville.
Mrs. Rena Fisher. Bruce South
District President and Mrs. Gordon
Wall, Bruce South District Secret-
ary Treasurer, on Wednesday last
attended the 80th Women's Insti-
tute anniversary at Bingeman Park.
Kitchener. where 1300 members
gathered to hear the guest speaker
Mrs. Hackett-Paine of England.
who presented Mrs. Verna Mains-
ke, Ontario Provincial President.

Sussex of England. Mrs. Maluske
in turn presented her with an

Mr. and Mrs. Jack Gillespie of
Sarnia spent the weekend with
Mrs. Agnes Farrier and on
Saturday evening all attended the
Wedding reception at Howick
Central Hall for Bruce Bushell and
Barbara Stapleton. newly weds.
Also in attendance were Mr. and
Mrs. Lorne Durnin. Mr. and Mrs.
Elroy Laidlaw. Mr. and Mrs.
Cameron Simmons of L• radon.
The Y.P.S. on Friday evening
held a barbecue at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Jim de Boer. The evening
was spent in playing games.
During lunch time Mrs. Jim de
Boer presented Wendy Kay. who
leaves for Kitimat in the near
Future. with a charm for her
bracelet. Wendy thanked the
society for their kindness in
remembering her.
Mrs. Graham of Brampton spent
the past week with her daughter
Mrs. Bev Kay. Rev. B. Kay.
Wendy and Graham.
Mrs. Edith Brown of London
spent Saturday with her parents.

A. H. Lemasurier of the Ministry
of Housing was chairman for the
program.
Reeve George Jovnt was asked to
speak on behalf of the village, of
Lucknow. Other municipal Reeves
acknowledged were Barry Johnston
of Kinloss. Warren Zinn of
Ashfield. Robert Lyons of West
Wawanosh'. Many councillors and
township officials. as well as their
wives, were in attendance.
Warden Andrew Cormack of
Bruce County and Warden Douglas
McNeil of Huron County each
brought greetings from their coun-
ties.
Murray Gaunt. M.P.P. for Hur-
on-Bruce. spoke briefly and also
filled in for Crawford Douglas.
M.P. for Bruce. who had been
detained in Ottawa and was unable
to be present.
Guest speaker for the opening
was Dr. Albert Rose of Toronto. a
board member with Ontario Hous-
ing who has been a part time
resident of Lucknow for the past 10
years. He owns the former
"Congram House - on Victoria
Street which he has just recently
sold to the new school principal.
The Rbse family spent their,
weekends. and leisure time in
Lucknow over these 10 years and it
was fitting that he was able to
participate in the senior citizens"
apartment opening. He has been a
member of the board of directors of
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Evans
attended the opening on Friday of
the Senior Citizens apartments at
Lucknow.
We are pleased to report that
Mrs. Gordon Rintoul was permitted
to return home last week from
Wingham and District Hospital.
This community extends sym-
pathv to the relatives of the late
Cairns Aitchison in his passing last
week.
The community extends a warm
welcome to the new residents. who
moved on Saturday into the apart-
ments at John Jamiesons.
Ontario Housing Corporation since
1964. in addition to his University
of Toronto teaching duties. Dr.
Rose stressed the independent
living and sociability that an
apartment building of this type
offers senior citizens. He said that
in moving there. one might leave
old homes. but not old friends. and
that residence in a facility of this
type offers increased independ-
ence. rather than limiting it.
Rev. L. Van Staalduinen of the
Lucknow Christian Reformed.
Church offered a prayer of dedica-
tion on behalf of the Lucknow
Ministerial Association.
Murray Gaunt. acting On behalf
of Central Mortgage and Housing
Corporation, presented Ed Black-
well; a resident, with a flag for the
grounds.
Dr. Albert Rose. acting on behalf
of the Ontario Housing Corpora-
tion. presented Mrs. Allister Hugh-
es, a resident, with a tea pot for the
building use.
Mrs. Frances Wilkins. 86, the
oldest resident at the apartment
complex. cut the ribbon to officially
open the building, assisted by
Lucknow Reeve. government rep-
resentatives and county wardens.
A tour of the building and a
luncheon followed the official
ceremonies.'
