Party Held For
Frank Rieglings
KINGSBRIDGE NEWS
A large crowd attended the
Community Farewell party for Mr.
and Mrs. Frank Riegling and
family on Thursday evening, June
30th held at the farm of Mr. and
Mrs. Cliff Livingston. An -evening
of cards and dancing with music
being provided by Russell and
Nancy Swan and Basil and Wilfred
Hogan. Cliff Livingston presented
the community's gift of a lovely
double globe gold swag lamp, a
pair of Cedarwood lawn chairs and
an envelope of money to Frank and
Anne and family and they in turn
expressed their thanks to Cliff and
Joan Livingston, who organized the
let together for them and to
veryone for coming. Lunch was
served. A wonderful time was
• enjoyed by all.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Riegling and
family and Miss Rita Hendriks left
for their new home in Whitelaw,

Guelph spent last weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon.
Away on a northern holiday last
weekend were Mr. and Mrs. Evan
Keith.
Mr. and Mrs. John Edwards and
family spent the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Leonard Clarke and
family.
Mr. and Mrs. Barry Johnston
and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moffat spent
last week holidaying in Lancaster,
Pennsylvania.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan MacDougall
and family spent the weekend in
London.
Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Dick
McQuillin on Sunday were Mr. and
Mrs, Doug McLeod and Donnie of
Clinton.
Miss Jenny Birkland of Denmark
is spending some time with Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Steever and Doug.
Jenny is- taking part in the Lions
Exchange program. ,
Holidaying with Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Houston last, week were Tanya
Snobelen and. Lynne Houston.
returned home on the following
Tuesday.
Jim Sinnett, Chief Engineer on
the Paul H. Townsend, has now
been promoted to the position of
Supervisor of the bUilding of a new
boat at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on
Lake Michigan. Mrs. Sinnett and
family are spending the month of
July at Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin
with Jim.
Mr. and Mrs. Martin Hendriks
arrived home here on Tuesday,
June 28th following a three week
vacation in the Western Provinces.
They visited the Peace River
District; Alberta and while there
they visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Clem Steffler and family at
Whitelaw.
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Karten
returned to their home in Holland
on SaturdaV-, July 16 following a
three week vacation with her sister
Mrs. Theo VanDiepan, Mr. Van-
Diepan and family.
Mr. and Mrs. William Borland of
the division line of Ashfield and
Colborne Townships, recently pur-
chased the former home of Mrs.
Genevieve Kinahan at Kings-
bridge. We welcome Mr. and Mrs.
Borland to this community.
BRIDAL SHOWER
A large crowd attended the bridal
shower 'for Miss Anne VanDiepen-
beek, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank VanDiepenbeek, held in St.
Joseph's Parish . Hall at Kings-
bridge on Thursday evening, June
30. Miss Nolda Miltenburg was the
mistiess of ceremonies and intro-
duced the following numbers:
songs by Lucille and Donna
Frayne; a reading by Mrs. Helen
Riegling; dancing by Miss Lisa
Frayne and a game conducted by
Marianne Miltenburg. The bride-
to-be received many lovely and
useful gifts and expressed her
appreciation for those who put on
the shower for her and all those
who donated.
Alberta on Saturday, July 2nd..
They stopped in Yorkton, Saskat-
chewan and spent two days visiting
Anne's cousins Mr. \ and Mrs.
Gerald Loewen and family. They
arrived at their destination on
Friday, July 8th and called their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Riegling and Mr. and Mrs. Frank
Ritchie by telephone on Saturday
evening, July 9th to tell them they
had a wonderful trip out and they
were all well and getting settled in,
their new home. The Riegling
family will be greatly missed in this
area.
DIED AT AGE 59
Sincere sympathy of this com-
munity is offered to Mrs. Maurice
Bowler and the members of the
BoWler families on the death of
Maurice Joseph Bowler in River-
dale Hospital, Toronto on Thurs-
day, July 7, following a lengthy
illness. He was 59 years of age.
Before moving to Toronto in 1956,
Mr. Bowler had lived at Kintail. He
was born in Ashfield Township on
November 30. 1918 to Ella Margar-
et (Dean) and James Bowler. In
1942 he married Rose Marie
Murray in St. Joseph's Church at
Kingsbridge. He is survived by his
wife, Rose and 14 children, Art of
Stratford, Jim, Dean, Murray,
John, Mrs. P. (Ella) Ferris, Norma,
Betty, Jane, Carol, Sharon, Bon-
nie, Elwood and Therese all of
Toronto; two sisters Elizabeth and
Mrs. J. (Cecilia) Eley both of
Toronto and eight grandchildren.
He was predeceased by one sister,
Mrs. I. (Helen) O'Leary of London.
Funeral service was conducted by
the Reverend Father O'Neill on
Saturday, July 9 at 10.30 a.m. at St.
Joseph's Roman Catholic Church in
Toronto. Interment was in St.
Joseph's Cemetery at Kingsbridge
with Reverend Father Ed Denting-
er. C.R. officiating.
Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Red-
mond and family have moved to
their new home at R. R. 2 Auburn.
They will be missed from this
community.
Mrs. Margaret Brazil and daugh-
ter Shelley of Mississauga spent
Sunday, July 10 with Mr. and Mrs.
Carl Riegling and visited with
Ambrose and.Barbara Riegling and
family in their new home and also
with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Hogan at
Kingsbridge.
Several from this area attended
the Tractor Pull at Cayuga this past
weekend.
Congratulations to George and
Donna Adams on the birth of a
baby boy at the Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital, Goderich on
Friday, June 24th.
Several from this area attended
the Garage Sale' held in Christ
Church, Port Albert on Saturday,
July 2 from 10 until 4 p.m.
A stag for Steve Reaburn was
held on Friday, July 15th at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John
VanRooy, and a stag for Steven
Moran was held on Saturday, July
16 at the home formerly lived in by
the groom's grandparents Mr. and
Mrs. Pat Moran, concession 10,
Ashfield. Congratulations to both
these young men who will be
married shortly.
Mrs. Pearl Guindon and Mrs.
Mary Smith, both of Bay City,
Michigan and Mrs. Carol Fetzer of
Rochester. Michigan visited with
Mrs. Gordon Congram and her
brother Maurice Ivers during the
past week and as well as
sightseeing in this area took part in
the sesquicentennial celebrations
for the town of Goderich. They
