Married At Milton MEWHINNEY - ARNOLD
Catherine Louise Arnold, daugh-
ter of Mr. and Mrs. Alex Arnold of
Milton and Douglas Alexander
Mewhinney, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Frank Mewhinney of R. R. 1
Lucknow were married at Holy
Rosary Church, Milton, on May 21
at 4 p.m.
Father Paul Boucher officiated at
the double-ring ceremony with
musical accompaniment from guit 7
arist Sharon Callan and singers
Anita Arnold and Colleen Callan.
Laurie O'Connor of Milton. a
close friend of the bride, was
matron of honour. Bridesmaids
were the bride's sister, Janice
Arnold of Milton and friends
Denise McCann and Gloria Cargill,
also of Milton.
Joe McCarthy of Milton was
groomsman while Murray Mewhin-
ney of Peterborough, brother of the
groom, Mike Arnold. brother of the
bride and Doug Gardhouse, friend
of the groom, served as ushers.
The bride's cousin, Ronnie
Burns of Corruna, was ring bearer.
He was accompanied by his sister
Kim Burns, the flower girl.
A dinner and evening reception
attended by 160 guests followed at
Holy Rosary Parish Hall where Joe
McCann of Milton acted as Master
of Ceremonies,
Special guests at the wedding
included grandparents Mr. Ernie
Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. James
Burns of Courtright, Ontario.
Other gueSts in attendance
travelled from as far away as
Sarnia. New Brunswick, Brampton,
Port Elgin, Lucknow. Stratford and
Ayr:
The newlyweds honeymooned
for a week on the. east coast of
Canada. returning to Milton
through the States. They are
residing at R. R. 5 Milton on
Aberfeldv Farm, where the groom
is employed as a herdsman.
Three showers were held for the
bride and groom prior to their
wedding. They were given by
Laurie O'Connor. Helen Dance and
the Mohawk Admission Girls.
OLIVET
Mrs. Jean Carruthers, Andrew
and Julie of Goderich visited on
Friday evening with Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Hamilton and family.
Miss Shannon Blackwell is
holidaying with her grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Timms of
Mississauga.
Susan Tout of Kincardine spent
the weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Ray Hamilton and family:
4-H'R VISITS HERE
Visiting with Joan Osborne and
her family this week is Teresa Clark
of Beamsville. Teresa is one of a
group, of 4-H'ers from North
Niagara visiting in Bruce County.
On Thursday. July 21st Joan goes
home with Teresa and will return
home on July 27th.
Visiting on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Oscar White were Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Mauer and family of
Seaforth and Mr. and Mrs. Herb
White of Park Head.
Visiting on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Ray Hamilton and family
were Mr. and Mrs. Doug Carson
and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Hamil-
ton of Vancouver and Mr. and Mrs.
Jack Scott of the 10th concession of
Huron Township.
Mrs. Robert Engel and family of
Dublin visited last Thursday with
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Black and
Joyce.
-Mrs. Wes Smith, Mary Margaret
and Barbara and Miss Joyce Black
and. Mrs. Ron McGuire attended a
shower on Saturday evening for
Miss Joan Johnston at the home of
Mrs. Robert Powell of Wingham.
Oscar White returned home
recently from St. Joseph's Hospit-
al, London where he had under-
gore surgery on his leg.
Visiting for the past 2 weeks with
Mr. and Mrs. Stan Blackwell were
their daughter and son-in-law. Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Hamilton. Tracy and
Kevin of Lethbridge, Alberta.
4-H EXCHANGE TRIP
Joyce Osborne left on Tuesday,
July 19th on a 4-H exchange trip to
West Virginia. She will spend most
of the time with a host family there
and will return home on July 28th.
