20TH ANNIVERSARY

Brooks, Betty and Barry McDon-
agh,, Barb and Art Helm, Deanna
Reavie.
Two other past presidents, Lloyd •
Ashton and Bill Nelson of Kincard-
ine, were not in attendance.
Barry McDonagh, a past presid-
ent of the Lucknow Club, proposed
a toast to Lions International and
this was replied to by Past District
Governor Edwin Walker of Mid-
land.
Charles Webster, a past presid-
ent, toasted the Lucknow Club on
their 20th anniversary and this was
replied to by Walter Arnold, 1st
vice president of the Lucknow
Club. •
Grant Chisholm", a past president
'of Lucknow Club and Past District
Governor, introduced the guest
speaker for the evening, Past
District Governor Bruce Murray of
St. Marys who, in a very
entertaining way, gave those
attending his views on Lionism and
what the organization meant from a
personal to an international stand-
point.
Past president Robert McIntosh.
thanked the speaker and presented
him with a gift.
Others acknowledged from the
chair were Past Deputy District
Governor Ted Hempel, Past Zone
Chairman Allan MacLean of Ripley
and Zone Chairman Charles Liddle
of Ripley.
The late Rae Watson was the
influence which, spearheaded the
formation of Lionism in Lucknow 20
years ago. An enthusiastic Lion for
most of his lifetime, Rae was the
factor which caused the formation
of the local club, and he'was its first
president. His sudden death a
short time ago left a gap in the 20th
anniversary observance, but trib-
ute was paid by many members on
Saturday of his contribution to the
club over the years. Mts. Rae
Watson of London presented a
stand carrying miniature flags of all
the countries in Lionism. The
presentation was made to the
Lucknow Club in memory of her
late husband and was received by
Harvey Webster, Past Deputy
District Governor and Joe Agnew,
current president. Harvey was the
last president of the Lucknow
Clansmen Club when the Lions
were formed and was named an
Honourary Past President of the
new club.
Harvey, in his remarks, mention-
ed the fact that the late Dr. W. V.
Johnston was the first president of
what was then known as the Aiena
Club, in 1937, and this club 40
years ago was instrumental in the
building of the present Lucknow
arena. Mrs. Greta Johnston, his
widow, was a head table guest on
Saturday.
Another presentation to the Club
was by Past President and Past
District Governor Grant Chisholm
who gave a Past Presidents'
plaque, listing all past presidents,
to the Club. It was received by
President Joe Agnew.
Other-presentations, which were
made by Grant Chisholm, included
perfect attendance awards. They
were:
Five years, Joe Agnew, Allan
Johnson, Stuart Reavie and Art
Helm.
Ten years, Gerry Priestap, Barry
McDonagh. -
Fifteen years. Grant Chisholm.
Twenty years, Bob Finlay, Al
Hamilton, Harvey Houston; Jack
McDonagh, Donald MacKinnon
and Virdem,Mowbray.
Harvey Webster presided for an
in Memoriam service, and with
bagpiper Frank MacKenzie playing
a Lament, the names of all charter
members, who have since died.
