They are now ready for operation haying spent past couple of:weeks cleaning up and making repairs. Glen Huston has been helping. Harold built the Elevator in the early fifties. It has four concrete grain silos - each holding five and one, half thousand bushel of grain. Harold sold it some years later to. the Jack. Treleaven . 'Company Limited. So caretaker Mrs. Helen Grubb and family were busy people. On Saturday evening the party and dance was in honour of 'Mr. and Mrs. Donald Thompson of Purple Grove who were recently home from a two week honeymoon in the South. * * * ,*11 * Also on Saturday evening, a birthday dinner was held in the Ripley Huron Legion Hall in honour of Mrs. Alice Cooley of Tiverton. Mrs. Cooley, a sister of the late Mrs. Ernie Pollock, has a number of relatives in this area and is no stranger to Ripley. The ladies of the Ripley Legion Aukiliary did the catering. • * * * * .On Saturday. starting at ten- thirty in the morning, auctioneers Grant McDonald of Huron and Wallace Ballagh of Teeswater conducted the fifth annual. sale of George McDonald's antiques in the Ripley Huron Complex Centre. Helping . the auctioneers were Kenny MacDonald and Don Mac- Tavish as clerk. Cashiers were Lloyd McNall of Lucknow' and Mrs. Marlene Coiling of Ripley. The writer was in charge of registra- tion. The sale attracted over lb° registered bidders and a good crowd, watching. George held his first sale at his home, then the next two were in the Ripley District High School Auditorium, then last year and this year they were held in the. Complex. People were there on Saturday from the neighbouring towns 'of Lucknow. Kincardine, Tiverton, Teeswater. Wingham and Goderich as well as Waterloo, Stratford. St. Catharines. St. Thomas, London. Mississauga. Toronto. and farther afield British Columbia, Saskatchewan. Michi- gan and New York. It was a good sale. A . bee was held on Friday afternoon with trucks and cars to help George and Murray move the., sale items into the complex. Among those helping were Kenny MacDonald, Don MacTavish. Pat Courtney, Patti, Donna and Dave Huber, Jack Shiells of Weston. Ross Stewart of Ripley and Ab Wylds.. Some of the out of town folks who returned and were at the sale were Miss-Katherine Murray of Toronto, Jean Osborne of Toronto and Carol Finlayson. also of Toronto. home visiting with her parents Mr. 'and Mrs. Gordon Finlayson at Loch- alsh. Mr, and Mrs. Eugene Marryn of Kincardine. Ted and Shirley Rowcliffe of St. Marys. Mrs. Sheila Munro) Cameron of London, Mrs. Minnie Ackerman of Hayward. California and her sister Mrs. Mary Brown of Sarnia and Ripley. Bert McDonald of Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Avery of Toronto and Inverhuron. Brian MacDonald. home from University Hospital, London. Mrs. Isabel MacKay of Lucknow and many more. * * * * • * Last Wednesday Mrs. Adeline Hackett of Ripley returned to St. Toe's Hospital in London where she will be a patient for the next, few eeks undergoing further treat- lent. Ripley area friends send Adeline best wishes. concession, Clark's area of Huron Township on the passing of her father, Mr. Elmer Reid of Paisley in his 81st year. The funeral service was held last Wednesday in Paisley with interment in purdy's Cemet- ery. * * * * * * Dorothy and Alf Beal of Stratford visited on Monday afternoon of last week with her sister Fran and Ab Wylds in Ripley. They were on their way home after spending the first of July holiday weekend at their Inverhuron cottage. * * * * * * On Tuesday of last week, men and machines of the Bruce County Highways Department assembled north of Ripley. They applied a fresh coat of tar and crushed rock to the pavement from Mrs. Marion MacTavish ss. corner north to almost the entrance to Wally and Elaine Pollock's farm. " Bob Lancaster, long a resident of the Reids Corners and Point Clark areas, passed away in the Chesley Nursing Home in his 80th year. The funeral service was held at Ross MaeLennan"s Funeral Home in Kincardine with interment' in Kincardine Cemetery on Wednes-. day of last week. • * *. * * * * The Huron Bruce Arts and Crafts Festival will, be held on the- last Friday and Saturday of the month, namely July 29 and 30. Marion and Oliver McCharles announce new types of crafts 'will be 'shown as well as those of the previous years. It will again be in the Ripley Huron Community Recreation Complex Centre with the committee mem- bers in charge,. Tena and Harold Wyld of Weston visited with Niels and !Nora Frederiksen on Malcolm Street and also called on relatives in the district. Mackay in Huron Villa in Rip ey and called on other relatives in the area. ti William Turvill of Kincardine, principal of the Ripley High School (District School), is taking a summer course in Toronto and was home this past weekend. * * * * * * Mr. and Mrs. Jack Shiells of Weston are visiting with Mr. ,and Mrs. George McDonald and Mur- ray McDonald in Ripley. * * * * * * Visiting with Mrs. John Robert- son recently on her 95th birthday. and her daughter Miss Chris Robertson. were Mr. and Mrs., John R. Robertson of Alliston, Bill Dowkes of the Engineering and. Science staff at the University of Toronto, her daughter Mrs. Elvira Mewhinney of Port Elgin and daughter Carol (Mrs. Ernie. Sea- man) of London, Mrs. Lorne Mewhinney of St. Catharines. and Huron-Bruce M.P.P. Murray Gaunt of Wingham. Also calling on operated it. Patricia Ackerman, daughter of--- George and Minnie Steele Acker- man, Hayward, California was married June 25th to Tod Frohnen. They are both graduates of California State UniVersity at Hayward. Pat's aunt, Mrs. Mary Brown, and her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Steele, all of Sarnia. attended the ceremony in Wesley United Methodist Church, Hayward. • Reg Moore was host to the Directors of Ripley Happy Hearts , Club last Friday evening. Plans were made 'for a Senior Citizens Chutch Service at Knox Presbyter- ian Church on July 10th. Programs were reviewed for next season.
