The June meeting of South
Kinloss Women's Missionary Soci-
ety was held at the home of Mrs.
Ted Collyer with 15 members and 5
visitors present. Mrs. Philip Steer
called the meeting to order with
prayer, followed by the 'repeating
of the Lord's Prayer.
The hymn, "Faith of our
fathers", was sung. The minutes
and correspondence was read by
the secretary, Mrs. Harry Lavis,
and • treasurer's report by Mrs.
Frank MacKenzie. A report on the
Presbyterian Camp at Kintail was
given by Mrs. Jack Needham.
The Bible Study on "Sarah", a
beautiful woman, was given by
Mrs. Leonard Clarke," who gave it
in a most interesting way.
The roll call was answered with a
Bible verse with the word "Prom-
ise". Mrs. Philip Steer favoured
with a solo, "we May Tarry
Awhile". All joined in a sing song
of sacred hymns. The study on the
Canadian Indian . was made most
interesting by Mrs. Harold How-
aid. Those taking part in the Prayer
Circle were Mrs. Frank MacKen ,
zie, Mrs. Wm. Macintyre and Mrs.
Douglas Graham. The courtesies
were by Mrs. 'Harold Howald.
The hymn, "0 help us Lord each
hour of need" was sung and the
closing prayer by Mrs. • Lloyd
MacDougall.
Refreshments were served by
the hostess and directors, Mrs.
Harold Howald, Mrs. 'Leonard
Clarke and Miss Mary MacIntyre.

Held Picnic
The Afternoon Auxiliary of the
Women's Missionary Society of the
Presbyterian Church, Lucknow,
held the picnic meeting on Wed-
nesday afternoon in the Sunday
School rroom of the church. They
had as • their guests the South
Kinloss W.M.S. and the Wingham .
W.M.S. with an attendance of 60
ladies.
Mrs. Morgan Henderson presid-
ed and opened the. meeting with a
short poem and welcomed the
visitors. Mrs. Cumming read the
scripture from Psalm 96 and a
comment on the beauty of the
earth. Mrs. Robt. Reid led in
prayer:
Mrs Needham of South Kinloss
gave the story of Amazing Grace by
John Newton and played a piano
solo of the tune in variations.
Following the offering Mrs. Hen-
derson gave the offetiory prayer,
which was followed by a duet by
Mrs. Austin Lome and daughter
Barbara.
Mrs. Jas. Little introduced the
guest speaker, Mrs. Armstrong of
Wingham, who gave a very
informative address on . Christian
Service and concern. How can we
serve Him? - by missionary giving
and use of our talents. God is
counting on us.
Mrs. Ken •Laidlaw gave a
reading, and Mrs. George Ken-
nedy gave the courtesy remarks. A
picnic supper was served and
enjoyed by all. The closing hymn
was 469 and Mrs. Jas,. Smith gave
the' closing Prayer.

The St. 'Helens Women's Insti-
tute members met at their hall on
Thursday, July 7 at 8.30 p.m. This
was the Citizenship and World
Affairs meeting.
The president, Mrs. Jim Curran,
opened the meeting with the
Opening Ode followed by the Mary
Stewart Collect. The roll call - a
special privilege we enjoy as a
Canadian Citizen, was answered by
the seventeen ladies present.
The minutes of the June meeting
and the treasurer's report was
given by -the secretary treasurer,
Mrs. Jim Aitchison. The assistant
secretary treasurer. Mrs. Gordon
Struthers, reported on the cards
and gift she had sent out in June.
Miss Beatrice McQuillin and
Mrs.. Jim. Curran attended the
Grade 8 graduation exercises at
Brookside School on June 23. Mrs.
Curran presented travelling alarm
clocks to the two top Grade 8 Math
students, Karen Metzger and Greg
Wilson from the St.' Helens W.I..
The bus trip planned for September
was discussed but no definite place
to .visit was decided on. The
Institute have been asked to cater
to two weddings, one in August
with Group 5 in: charge and the
other one in October with Group • 1
in charge.
Mrs. Ross Errington told about
the '4-H girls Achievement Day and
said the girls would attend the
August meeting and 'show the
ladies what they had made.
• The Curators, Miss, Beatrice
.McQuillin and MrS. Gordon Mc-
Pherson, would like .the ladies to
,icing the history of their farMs and
homes to the next meeting.
Anyone with any old jewellery.
they would 'like to give away,
please bring • it to the August
meeting.
The motto, A lot of good could be
done in the world if no one cared
who got the credit, was well given
by Mrs. Harold Cooper. The topic
was Citizenship and Mrs. Vic
Emerson of Whitechureh was to
have been the guest speaker. but
she was Unable to come, so Mrs.
Gordon Lyons read the paper
prepared by her.
Mrs. G. McPherson was chair-
lady for the rest of the meeting.
Current events prepared by Mrs.
Wm. Purdon was read by Mrs.
Harold Cooper. A reading, Patch-
work Quilts, was given by Mrs.
Fred McQuillin. Mrs. Ivan Clarke
gave two short readings, Parts of
Speech and Facts about Birds,
which was quite interesting. A
humorous reading, Good Old Days
at School, was read by Mrs. Ernest
Gaunt. Mrs. Gordon McPherson
conducted a contest on how well we
know Canada.
The meeting closed with 0
Canada and the Institute Grace. A
lovely lunch w as served by Miss
Beatrice McQuillin, Mrs. Fred
McQuillin and Mrs. Gordon Mc-
Pherson.

The Goderich Senior Citizens
Club visited the Home on Friday
and entertained with songs by
Wanda Linner, violin selections by
Bert McDonald, coloured slides by
Bob Henry, recitations by Mrs. Roy
Finnegan and Mary Clairmont.
The final day of the Senior
Citizens Week of activities included
an afternoon of table games
sponsored by the Seaforth Seniors.
Prize winners for, the highest
euchre scores were Pearl Gidley
and Louis Wild. The eldest resident
playing cards was Mrs. Elizabeth
Scott.
The Brussels United Church
Women entertained on Monday
afternoon with a variety program.
There were vocal solos and
quartette numbers, step dancing
and square dancing. Following the
program bags of treats were given
to each of the residents:
The Goderi ch Laketown Band
played for a concert on the lawn on
Family Night. The. thirty-member
band is led by Miss Storey with
musicians from Goderich, Clinton,
Holmesville and Bayfield.
The Bob Wywood Orchestra of
Exeter entertained on Tuesday
evening with a program of favour-
ite songs. The orchestra includes
Bob Heywood, accordian, Calvin
Horner;. guitar, and, Jeff Rooth,
drums.

meeting with the League prayer.

welcomed everyone. Mrs. Franken
gave a spiritual reading, Early Life
of Mary. Father replied. Mrs. Gus.
Redmond read correspondence and
thank you letters from Chris and
Louise Brophy, Rita and Tom,
Brophy, Mrs., B. Eedy, Dennis
'Foran, Angela Foran, Mary Kath-
erine Stapleton, Karen Foran,
Janice Foran; church life Convener,
London and a letter from Mrs. Earl
Tupper to attend the St. Marys
Pilgrimage for Lady of Fatima,
August l5. Helen Foran gave the
financial report. Culture Life
convener, Leona Boyle, visited sick
in hospital.
Mrs. Marie Hebert presented
Rosary and First Communion cards
to the First Communion class and
presented the Proficiency and
,Citizenship awards to the grade 8
class. Mary Boyle thanked the
ladies for helping with showers,
Knight of Columbus communion.

getting the new dishes for the
kitchen. Father reported on getting
a new reading pulpit for the church
and new cupboards and counter for
the kitchen.
Father gave. a very interesting
talk on Ye of little faith; pray•Jor
faith and the gift of increasing
faith. Mary Kinahan gave a
reading. Our Funny Canadian
Language. Mary Boyle had a
reading, St. Anthony and Mary
Kinahan a reading Smile and Speak
to people and you will have lots of
friends.
The meeting closed with the
League Prayer by Father Denting-
: cr. Lunch was served by the ladies
in charge and everyone enjoyed a
social hour.
