Trinity Church
Picnic Held
At Brookside
Ashfield Trinity Church held
their congregational picnic on
Sunday, June 26th at Brookside
School, with an attendance of 60
people.
The Senior Sunday School enjoy-
ed a baseball game and the Junior
classes participated in various

The team winning the relay,
which was a race through card-
board boxes and ball tossing, is as

The ladies played kick the
slipper, the winner being Loreen
Alton. They also had a bag race,
which was lots of laughs but
produced no winner.
Everyone- enjoyed a bountiful
smorgasbord supper. Following the
meal the following people won
prizes: lucky plate, Lorne Hackett;
lucky chair, Evelyn Hackett; man
with the most change in his pocket,
Russel Irvin; lady with the largest
number of articles in. purse, Mary
Lou Raynard; largest family pres-
ent, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Hackett;
person with most colours in their
wearing apparel, David. Hackett
and Alli Reurink (tied).
Couple Married
At Elora
FAIRWEATHER - McQUILLIN
The Church of St. John the
Evangelist, Elora, was the scene of
a pretty summer wedding on June
18th at 4 p.m. when Mary Lorraine
McQuillin became the bride of
Ralph Robert Thomas Fairweather.
Rev. Robert Hulse officiated at the
double ring ceremony. Bruce M.
Nuhn was organist.
The bride is the eldest daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Carmen McQuillin
and the groom is the youngest son
of Mr. and Mrs. Morley Fairweath-
er, all of Salem.,, •
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a long gown with a
train appliqued with daisies, a
matching three quarter length veil
and carried a bouquet of pink
roses. ,
The bride was attended by her
sisters, Peggy as maid of honour,
Betty and Norma as bridesmaids.
They were gowned alike in long
powder blue jersey dresses with
cap sleeves and wore white picture
hats. Their, bouquets were white
daisies and blue tinted carnations.
Each wore a heart shaped silver
necklace, a gift from the bride.
Groomsman was Don Fairweath-
er, Waterloo, brother of the groom.
Ushers were Albect McQuillin,
Salem and Dick McQuillin, Hamil-
ton, brothers of the bride.
The groom wore a white ruffled
shirt with a powder blue tuxedo.
His attendants wore similar tuxed-
os with blue ruffled shirts.
Following a tour of Salem, the'
guests were received at the Elora
Village Inn by the bride's mother.
She wore an aqua blue gown and
was assisted by the groom's
mother in a pink gown. Each wore a
gardenia corsage.
Special guests included the
bride's grandparents, Mr. and
Mrs. Herb McQuillin of Lucknow.
Other guests were from Walkerton,
Gait, Aurora, Barrie,, Grimsby,
Drayton, Elmira, Guelph, Fergus
and Elora.
A smorgasbord supper was
followed by an evening of dancing
to the organ music of David
Mitchell, Kitchener.
Following a wedding trip to
Owen Sound and points north, the
young couple will take up residence
in Salem.
Prior to their marriage the happy
couple were honoured by the Elora
Grand Squares with a Jack and Jill
shower. Showers were also given
by Mrs. Peter Law and Mrs.
Clayton Brock at the Steelworkers
Hall in Fergus and at the home of
Mrs. E. Hewitson, IC R. 1 Ariss, by
Mrs. Jim McQuillin.

Lucknow last Friday. Their farm
has been sold.'
Mr. Mr. and Mrs. John McInnes of
Teeswater visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Young.
Mr. and 'Mrs. Robert Wynne of
Kitchener spent the weekend at
their farm home on the eighth of
Kinloss.
Mr. and Mrs.• George Young,
Heather, Bradley and Cheryl of
Wingham spent the holiday week-
end at their rebuilt log house and
on Saturday Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Young, Beth and Jane of Chesley
and Shelley Gardner of Lucknow
spent the day there also.
Communion services were held
in both Whitechurch and Langside
Presbyterian Churches on Sunday
with our newly ordained minister
Reverend Bev Kay in charge.

Mrs. Nell of Stayner is visiting
with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Bregman and last Wednesday
Mrs. Nell and Mrs. Bregman
visited with Bob's mother, Mrs.
Jan Bregman of Exeter and her
sister Mrs. Binnendyk of Holland,
whO is staying with her sister and
visiting relatives in Canada.

Some of the young girls in this
community are away camping. Last
week Joanne Bregman was at
Kintail Camp and this week Karen
Young, Sherry Potter and Christine
Bregman are at Kintail Camp and .
Liane Young is at the Brownie
Camp at Owen Sound.
