Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kirkland
went last Tuesday with a bus load
from Lucknow to 'Sara Lee Bakery
in Bramalea, Ontario and to the
Parkwood Estate of Mr. and Mrs.
R. F. McLaughlin in Oshawa.
A number from this community
attended the household sale for
Frank and Sally Ritchie, who have
left the farm to reside in Lucknow.
The sale was held at the home of
their daughter Ann and Frank
Rieglirig, where they sold their
belongings before' going to West-
ern Canada in July.
Mr. and. Mrs. Allan Gibson and
family attended the Gibson reunion
Sunday noon in Ashfield Park.
Mr,. and ,Mrs. Harvey Ritchie
visited Sunday afternoon at the
horrie of her sister, Mr. and Mrs.
Bert Wylie of Fordwich.
Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Ritchie,
Carol and her brother, Mr. and
Mrs. Mel Bogie and family of
Goderich travelled as far as Sarnia
for a picnic supper at the lake
where the boats were coming • in.
Trinity United Church, Ashfield
had their Sunday School and
Church picnic Sunday afternoon at
Brookside School.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Ritchie of
Lucknow, on the Occasion of their
53rd wedding anniversary last
Saturday, took Mr. and Mrs. Allan
Ritchie and Bryce out for dinner to
the Knotty Pine Restaurant, Kin-
cardine.

JUNE 1967
Three rural schoolS in, Huron
County School Area No. 2 were sold
by public auction. With the advent
of centralized education, these
schools were no longer in use. The
three West Wawanosh schools
brought $2,468. Fordyce School
brought $100.00; St. Helens school
and ploperty, $800; and Township
Hall School and property, $855.
Equipment in the schools netted
$713. "
Two more schools were sold the
following week. Zion school was
sold for $105 and the Crewe School
for $415. Both were in Ashfield
Township.

JUNE 1947
Rev. Charles H. MacDonald,
minister of Lucknow Presbyterian
Church for twenty-two years, was
'elected as Moderator of the
General Assembly of the Presby-
terian Church in Canada.
Quite a stir 'was created in
Goderich by a brief visit paid by
Walt Disney of Hollywood fame.
He wanted to see, for the first time,
the district where his father was
born and grew to young manhood.
50 YEARS AGO
JUNE 1927
A. G. Smith, who for twelve
years had managed the Wingham
Advance-Times sold the business
to Mr. Craig who had previously
owned the newspaper at Grand
Valley, but at the time of purchase
was in charge of the mechanical
end of the work at the Advance
Times.
Lucknow Village Council had
stop signs erected at the intersec-
tion of all streets north and south.

read in part, "There are more cars
than ever on the Streets this season
and traffic at the crossings was
becoming more and more danger-
ous,"
Rev. Charles Cumming preached
his farewell sermon at Calvin
Church, St. Helens. He had
accepted a call to Ailsa Craig.
