PINETREE
CRESTENETS
BY AUBREY HIGGINS
After enjoying my first day of
humid weather, when I could sit
out in front of the building with a
full view of Bob Street, I walked to
its southerly end.
I had what seemed to be a very
full day, one that sent me for a walk
down to the highway after the
evening meal.
After, my observation and walk,
to confirm by beliefs, I found
several things that in my opinion
should be corrected at once.
The street running off Bob has
not even got a name post at the
intersection. The one at Elgin has
no "Bob" on it and neither dOes
the one at Willoughby. The Stop
sign at Willoughby is so close to the
pavement at Willoughby that if a
car came up to the required spot by
law, a person would have to go onto
the pavement of Bob Street to get
by.
'At no point on Bob Street is there
a sign "School Crossing". or any
indication that there is a school
anywhere in the vicinity, and there
are hundreds of children going
both ways each school day.
There are no entrance or exit
signs' at the circle drive at the
school. There is only one sign
indicating that Pinecrest is on this
street, and it is lettered and
painted in the exact pattern as the
street sign "Bob" above it. There
is not one sign to indicate the
nature of the . building. Hospitals
have "Quiet Hospital Zone in all
directions. I have seen a great
number of drivers try to see how
fast their car will accelerate from a
standing stop, and have heard
screeching tires both on arrival and

I
Give yourself a break.
Take,a walk.
naanarimnan
.in leaving the parking lot. Only
today I saw a man skid all four tires
in order to stop in time, then quite
leisurely walked up to the front
door and enter. On leaving he used
the same procedure.
At times we have some very sick
people in this building, perhaps a
few signs might help them to think
of their behaviour when in this
neighbourhood.
This is much like the writing of
some old grouch. Maybe I am, I
don't know for sure myself, but I do
think the above mentioned should
be brought to the attention of
someone who has the authority to
correct them, and I don't know who
that is either.
We have a number of people
here Who have such a strong
memory of home that once in a
while they try to make a run for it,
not knowing where or how to get
there. Some of those fast drivers
might not be able to stop in time.
Let's hope it never happens.
There are three things that the
ritirfadure-r puts into each auto-
mobile , the brakes, the gas pedal,
and the steering wheel. These
three things can not be operated
from the back seat, or these few
lines I have written, only by the
driver..,
Children be children, as long
as there are children. Most of the
adults today read to freshen their
minds, and road signs are one of
the things that a lot need to read.
