Councillor Tom Andrew reported
of a recent cleanup fie -aid gab-
Cranston did in the area, around the
village dump. High winds blew
paper and refuse all over the area.
Mr. Andrew said the agreement
with Graham Cook of Ripley calls
for covering of the dump every
Friday night or Saturday morning,
but on that occasion, it was
Monday before the job was done.
He felt that in the future, if the
terms were broken, Mr. Cook
should be financially responsible
for the cleanup.

Gerrie Glenn met with council to
discuss what was • expected of him,
as a developer, it—he chose"-to
develop the west side of Delhi
Street, near the nursing home.
Bertha Whitcroft was to be
engaged to assist with secretarial
work, as needed.
Whitechul,:h Family and Con-
sumer Affairs meeting was held
Wednesday evening, May 11 in
Whitechurch Community Memorial
Hall. The president, Mrs. Russel
McGuire, presided and opened the
meeting with a Mother's Day
poem.
The Ode was sung and Creed
repeated in unison. Mrs. McGuire
welcomed the 4-H club and leaders
and all present. Whitechurch are
responsible for registration at
District Annual; bus trip is planned
for June 20th to Parry Sound,
where they will enjoy a boat trip 2
to 5 p.m.; thank' you was received
from .Wingham Hospital for home
made candy which brought around
$20; the Lucknow bus trip was
announced; thank you note was
received from Pinecrest Manor for
program and birthday gifts pres-
ented at meeting in May; plans
were- made- for Variety Program for
May 27, now changed to 'June 3rd;
October 21st was date set to
celebrate the 50th anniversary of
Whitechurch W.I.; Miss Annie
Kennedy expressed thanks to the
W.I. for cards sent when in
hospital. It was decided to buy a
frig, 4 dozen stacking chairs, 10
card tables, water heater and have
the two steps on each side of hall
repaired. '

The 4-H club gave a demonstra-
tion of Clothes for Leisure. Taking
part were Lori Jamieson, Kathy
Purdon, Lorie Purdon,, Mrs. Walter
Elliott, Mrs. Archie Purdon, Ken-
dra Purdon. Lori Jamieson was
commentator. At the recent Ach-
ievement Day at Teeswater the
poster displayed "Our Aim, Good
Health" and Miss Janet Laidlaw
gave the commentary for it. Kathy
Purdon on behalf of the club
thanked the Institute for sponsor-
ing the club.
Mrs. Taylor from Kitchener
Amway Household Products then
displayed their goods. The lunch.
committee served refreshments.
Executive Meet
The local cancer society execut-
ive met at the home of Mrs. Bruce
Hamilton on Thursday afternoon.
Lola Timms and June Mahood,
president and secretary, respect-
ively of the Walkerton Unit, and
Bill O'Connor of Toronto were
present and outlined the duties of
each officer and answered many
questions from the group. Later in
the afternoon, Mildred Bilksy,
co-ordinator of Public Education
from Ontario Division and Carolyn
Beck, Education, chairman for
Huronia District arrived and pres-
ented • many ideas for future
projects in the local organization.
The local group hope the
Lucknow area people are aware of
the services they can offer to cancer
patients. If anyone needs assist-
ance, please call 528-3404.
Also, any volunteers who would
like to occasionally drive patients to
hospital or clinic please call
