Mrs. Evans (Barbara) Helm is the new president. Vice presidents are Mrs. Barry (Diane) Hackett and Mrs. Ken (Karen) Johnstone;. secretary, Mrs. Fred (Karen) Flanagan; treasurer, Mrs. Wayne (Phyllis) Jerome; registrar, Mrs. Jim (Diane) Morrison \ Bulletin editors are Mrs. Gar3), (Gloria) Ritchie and Mrs. Herb (Rosalene) Barger. 517 Head Sold 517 head of .cattle went through the auction ring at the Lucknow Community Sale stocker cattle sale Monday.' 15 Hereford steers averaging 645 lbs. were sold by Charlie Murray, Kinloss, to Maple Emblem Farms, Dungannon at 43.60. 15 Hereford steers averaging .560 lbs. were, sold by Gordon Brooks, Lucknow, to Currie Colwell, Luck- now at 43.50. 6 heifers averaging 755 lbs. were sold by Bert Moss, Auburn, to James Coultes, Belgrave at 38.10. 3 heifer calves averaging 440 lbs. were sold by A. Anstett, Cargill, to Robert MacMillan, Lucknow at 3830. The Lucknow and District Kins- men Club voted for their executive at a closed meeting May 4 in the clubhouse. The bulletin editor's job will be shared Kinettes Present Second Annual Fashion Show Two Lucknow young women have been presented with provinc- ial and advanced honours certific- ates for their achievement in 4-H Club work over the years. On the left is. Ruth Alton, 17, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen -Walden of Lucknow who received a pin and certificate in obtaining Provincial Honours. This repres- ents the completion of twelve 4-H Clubs. Ruth is a grade 11 student this year by Fred Flanagan and Herb Barger. Greg Larocque is in charge of the scrapbook. Two previous presidents, Tony John- stone and Terry .Rathwell, acted as scrutineersior the secret balloting. There was a 100% club turnout. The club is entering it's fifth year of operation in September. Major projects on the go 'are the current Stanley Cup draw, new boards in the arena and the second annual Summerfest in June. Quite actively involved in the club projects, the new president, Evans is a charter member with the club, being enrolled since Novem- ber 1973. He has served three terms as secretary and was vice president in the current year. Evan's wife, Barb, was earlier at F. E. Madill Secondary School. • Pictured on the right is Nancy Ritchie, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Ritchie of bucknow who received a pie server and certificate in completing Advanced Honours. Advanced Honours are awarded for the completion of eighteen 4-H Clubs. Nancy is employed as a guidance secretary at F. E. Madill Secondary School at Wingham. voted in as president of the Kinette Club. Part of Evans' policy for the forthcoming term is to "bump" up the club's activities. Died In Hospital P. A. (Phonse) Murray of Holyrood passed away at Wingham and District Hospital on Sunday, May 8. He was 81. The body rested at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel, Lucknow until Wednesday morning, May 11, , when Requiem Mass will be at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church, Riversdale. Interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery, Riversdale. On Sunday, May 8, cold, windy temperatureS didn't discourage eight Kinsmen, five Kinettes or Kin wives and eight Kin kids who left the Lucknow Kinsmen Club House 'in a ten mile walk to Holyrood and return. Of the 21 walkers, ,18 finished the ten miles. Bobby Hackett was the first to finish in a time of one hour and thirty minutes. Megan Johnstone, age 3, walked to Holyrood, a distance of five miles. A parcel of land in West Wawanosh Township, just south of Lucknow, has been approved for residential development by Huron County Council. The property of J. W. Joynt, originally zoned agricultural, will be subdivided into four building lots to allow the erection of new houseS, and an amendment to the county official plan will classify as residential. In question from Reeve 'Ed Oddleifson of Bayfield, Gary Dav- WINS ATOM AWARD Mrs. Nancy Maclntyre presented the Allan Maclntyre Memorial Trophy for the best defenceman on the Lucknow Atom Hockey Team. Proceeds of the walk, when collected, will amount to. approxi- mately $800 which the local Kinsmen and Kinette Clubs will donate to Cystic Fibrosis to assist in giving a child "The Breath of Life". The money will be presented at the may district convention , in Niagara Falls. The aim of the District is to raise $100,000. Lucknow Kinsmen and Kinettes hope to contribute $1000 - through the Walkathon and previous ev- ents. idson, county planner, told county councillors that Lucknow, which is in Bruce County, is co-operating by providing services, but there had been no talk of annexation Lucknow. Reeve Robert Lyons of West Wawanosh told county council that he favours allowing residential development of the land in question. The lots in question are immedi ately south of the Christian Reformed Church and the resid- ence of Bob Damsma. The presentation was made at the Lucknow Minor Hockey Banquet on Friday. Syke Sutherland, owner of Ashton's, and Lome Gammie, t owner of Loree's, each did their 1;',5,own commentating. • Throughout the evening about CONTINUED ON PAGE 20 David Zyluk, principal of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic School at Kingsbridge, will be the candidate for the New Democratic Party in Huron-Bruce Riding 'in the forth- Kincardine developer Sam Mac- Gregor will be the Progessive Conservative candidate for Huron- Bruce riding in the June , 9 provincial election. MacGregor, 43, was unopposed at a riding association meeting in coming provincial election. Mr. Zyluk is a resident of Kincardine where his wife teaches at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Kincardine Monday night. He was nominated by Wingham Mayor Bill Walden, the PC candidate in the 1975 provincial election. Although as late as Friday. there were f,t)ur other possible Conserva- tive candidates, no other names were brought forward at the meeting. The entire nomination procedure took less than five minutes. Mr. MacGregor is a Stratford native who has lived near Kincard- ine since 1960. MacGregor said he only decided to seek the nothination on Sunday afternoon. Until then, he had worked in the background for the Conservatives, including helping in Walden's campaign. Sam McGregor.
