A number from here attended
the 4-H , Achievement Day at
Hilfcrest Central School, Teeswat-
er. The course was "Focus on
Living" and the leaders from the
Holyrood Women's Institute were
Mrs. Gerald Murray and Mrs.
Larry Kraemer.
Mr. and Mrs. George Graham
returned home from London where
George was a patient at Victoria
Hospital. They both visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Levi Eckenswiller.
Mrs. Donald Fisher of Barrie and
Miss Margaret Murray of Montreal
visited with' Mrs. P. A. Murray.
Miss Margaret Murray will be back
at the Murray Homestead fkthe
,summer months.
Mrs. Jack Scott, Mrs. Bill
MacPherson, Misses Edna and
May Boyle visited on Saturday with
Mrs. Edna Whytock at Teeswater.
Mr. and Mrs.. Dadsun of St.
Thomas moved to the house at the
north end of the village on Saturday
last. We extend a welcome.
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Nicholson
and Brandon of Wallaceburg spent
a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Nicholson.
Mrs. Gertrude' Walsh and Mrs.
John. Wraith visited with the
former's brother, Henry Scott, at
the Geri-Care Nursing Home at
Palmerston.
Mr. and Mrs. Howard Bennett of
Toronto spent the weekend with
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur
Haldenby.
Seeding operations are well
underway in this area.
Mrs. Ed Green will be hostess
for the May meeting of the
Anglican Church Women on
' Thursday afternoon, May 12th.
Conveners, Mrs. David Haldenby
and Mrs. Midford Wall.
Mr. and Mts. Harold Haldenby
of Sarnia spent the weekend with
relatives and friends here.
Mr. and Mrs. Clare Sparling of
Walkerton spent- Saturday in the
village at the Haldenby home.
Mr. George Haldenby was .
moved from University Hospital,
London to Walkerton Hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Fairhall of
'Glen Orchard spent the weekend
'here at the Maulden home.
Once again this year our league
enjoyed a delicious supper. Each
table, was decorated by a centre-
piece of flowers representing the
team seated there.
After supper we relaxed and
enjoyed music provided on the
piano by. Donalda Scott and Mai.),
Lou Raynard. Anna Johnstone
honoured us with a step dance
accompanied by Donalda on the
piano. Nancy Murray thanked the
adies --far---the_lo_vely supper .the
had served.
Merle Rhody presided for the
business part of the evening. The
following is the new executive for
next season: president, Kay Craw-
ford; vice president, Linda Stick-
lend; secretary, Muriel Ritchie;
treasurer, Anne Anderson. Some
new regulations were voted in and
some old amended. With business
over we got down to what everyone
had been looking forward to -
trophies.
Merle Rhody presented trophies
to the season's champs, Tena
Gardner's Asters, with Tena mak-
ing the acceptance speech for the
team. She then presented for the
season, high single, Dianne Carter;
second high single, Joanne Searle;
third high single, Linda Sticklend.
High triple went to Grace Hopf,
who unfortunately was unable to be
with us. It was accept:Rd by her
daughter Sandra.
Alene Clark presented Merle
Rhody with the high average
trophy. Alene then presented Lynn
Wall with a thank you gift as she is
retiring this year after 5 years as
secretary.
Lynn Wall presented Margaret
Hackett with the trophy for Most
Improved Bowler. Alene Clark
presented the playoff champs,
Merle Rhody's Violets with their
trophies and Merle made the
acceptance speech for the team.
Alene then presented the follow-
ing trophies and gifts: Merle
Rhody, high triple; Grace Hopf,
high single, again accepted in her
absence by her daughter Sandra;
Irene Nelson, second high single;
Vicki Park, third high single.
In a draw for which tickets had

earlier been sold, 1st prize was won
by Joanne Searle, 2nd prize, by
Nancy Farrish. Another draw was
held with the following winners:
Debbie Rhody, Betty Smith, Barb
Tyler, Isabel! Tiffin, Mary Jo
Henry, Sandra Henderson, Grace
Hopf, Barb Cranston, Valerie Park,
Alene Clark, Marjorie Thompson,
Joanne Hamilton, Dianne Carter,
Donalda Scott, and Pat Glazier.
Lynn Wall presented Merle
Rhody, Kay Crawford and wAlene
Clark with a small gift in thanks for
their services over the past season
as president, vice president and
treasurer. Mugs were presented to
those girls, who had 'not won either
trophies or in the draws..
The room was then cleared and
card tables set up for 6 tables of
progressive euchre and one table of
6 handed euchre. High prize for
white cards went to Dianne Carter.
Low prize for white cards to Marg
Hackett. High prize for pink cards
went to Anne Anderson. Low prize
for pink cards went to Chris Faber.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the
evening and hope we'll see you all
out again come September.
