served and a social hour enjoyed

On Friday morning, April 22
school opened with Mass. At the
offertory the students 'took
donations for Mission Hope or.
for the Children's Aid Society to
the altar. .Mrs. Bruce Heath
accepted these donations on
Monday on behalf of the
Children's Aid Society.
In the afternoon students
presented the following pro-
gram in the school gymnasium:

Thus. Education Week came to
a close. Mr. Zyluk, principal
expressed deep appreciation to
the parents, the teachers and to
all who helped make this
Education Week, 1977 so suc-
cessful.
Ash field
Council Minutes
Ashfield Township Council met
on April • 5, with all members
present.
A delegation was present re-
questing that the intersection of
sideroad 12 and 13 and #21
highway be improved. Council
decided to meet with the M.T.C. on
this.
Gordon Drennen made a request
for repairs and improvements to
the outlet on the Maclntyre and
Drennen Drains.
A plan for sub-division presented
by George MacLeod, Town Plot of
Port Albert, was approved in
principle, subject to the approval of
the Huron County Planning Board.
Clerk was instructed to call for a
proposal from B. M. Ross, Goder-
ich for bridge appraisal in Ashfield
as directed by the M.T.C.
grant, of $15-.00- was- approved
for the Huron County Historical
Society.
Clerk was instructed to call
tenders for garbage collection for
the 1977 season.
The following applications for
Tile Drain Loans were approved,
Ben VanDiepenbeek,, $10,000,
Gary Dauphin $6000.; John Pent-
land $7100.; Mark Berger $4500.,
Doug Scott $2700. Road accounts
of $13,504.48 and general accounts
of $5384.24 were approved for
payment.
The meeting adjourned. and met
again on April 19, with all members
in attendance.
E. H. Uderstadt was present and
discussed the report on the Port
Albert Victoria Street drain with
the affected owners.
The report was adopted and the
provisional by-law was given two
readings.
Dave MacKenzie attended, re-
questing that the old road allow-
ance at the south east end of the
trailer park be extended approxi-
mately 300 feet. The wages for
custodians for the Waste Disposal
Sites were increased to $3.40 per
hour.
The tender' of James Adams of
Bluevale was accepted for loading
and hauling approximately 15,000
cubic yards of pit run gravel at 54
cents per yard, subject to the
approval of the M.T.C.
The meeting adjourned to meet
on May 3rd at 7.30 p.m.

church service attended by 5 great

all were entertained at the parents'
home. On the way home Mrs.
Johnston and Mr. Grigg called on
Mr. and Mrs. Charles. Wood at
Egmondville and on Mrs. Ross
McMichael of Seaforth.
Visitors on the weekend with Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Mowbray were

Frank Jamieson returned hoine
this week from Wingham and
District Hospital where he had
undergone surgery.
Graham Kay from Vancouver
University arrived at Toronto by
plane on Sunday evening, where he
was met by his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bev Kay.
ViSitors on Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. E. W. Beecroft and Karen
were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Sinnamon
of Wingham, Mr. and Mrs. Robert
.Sinnamon, Wayne, Brock and
Bradley of Monkton, and Hugh

Holiday visitors with Mr. and
Mrs. John L. Currie of Wingham
were Mr. and Mrs. Alex Orr of
Montreal, Jim Orr, London, Mr.

Bobbie of Kitchener, Duane Cur-
rie, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Currie.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Ellacott of
Toronto spent the past weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. George Gra-
ham. On Tuesday Mr. and Mrs.
Bob Riddell of Bervie visited at the
same home.
NOTE CHANGE
The May meeting of the Holy-
rood Women's Institute will be
held on Wednesday (evening) May
4th at the hall with Mrs. Alex
Percy, hostess. Honouring Mothers
and Grandmothers, roll call - Bring
a mother and introduce her. Motto

Mrs. Ruth Wilson underwent
surgery at Victoria Hospital, Lon-
don. We wish her improved health.
Bruce Orr• is a patient in the
Kincardine and District Hospital.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
Cliff and Dave Robb had a
successful auction sale on Saturday
afternoon.
Mrs. Alex Percy and Mrs. Frank
Maulden are the canvassers for the
Cancer Society in this area and
Mrs. Jack Scott and Mrs. Bill
MacPherson for the 10th conces-
sion.
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Campbell of
Kincardine visited on Sunday with
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Nicholson.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Guest
attended the funeral of her aunt.
Mrs. Ian Rawn at the MacPherson
Funeral Home, Teeswater on
Monday afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Hamilton
of Lucknow visited over the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Barr and family.
Friends here of Allan Nicholson
of Wallaceburg were sorry to hear
that he received facial injuries
while at work.

On' Thursday, April 14, Mrs.
Burgess's law class journeyed over
to Walkerton to sit in on the court
sessions. Charges were laid for
such things , as. impaired driving
and break and enter. It was a very
interesting . morning after which
they had lunch and then toured
back to' Ripley.
VARIETY CONCERT
People are busy practising for
the various songs, skits and plays
for this year's .variety concert.
Everyone is welcome to attend this
event which is to take place on
April 28. and 29.
SPRING PROM
ThiS year'S spring prom is on
May 13. Music will be provided by •
-The Moonlighters - and dancing
