n Peirolia Anglican Church
The wedding took place on
March 25th in Christ Anglican
Church, Petrolia of Mary Anne
Ritchie and John McCharles. Rev.
George Menzies officiated. The
bride is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Keith Ritchie of Petrolia and
the groom is the son of Mr. and
Mrs. Oliver McCharles of Luck-
now.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a floor length gown
of imported maricane and chiffon.
The empire bodice, V-neckline and
a yoke of chantilly lace and
butterfly sleeves of chiffon fell into
an A-line skirt with an attached
chapel train. A contour band of
hand clipped applique lace and
seed pearls held her floor length
veil of imported silk illusion and
she carried a cascade of yellow
roses, white carnations and babys
breath.
Maid of honour for the bride was
Mona Mackesy and the bridesmaid
was Betty Roane. Both wore
dresses of emerald green marican,e
with boucle knit jackets and large
picture hats. They carried bouquets
of yellow daisieS and yellow
carnations.
Rod Finlayson of Sarnia was the
best man while Lawrence Love-
grove of Petrolia ushered. They
wore green tuxedos with white
dress shirts.
Following the ceremony a recep-
tion was held at the Glenview Golf
and Curling Club.
"T he bride's mother wore a gown
of pale blue polyester interlock.
The groom's mother wore a robin
egg blue gown of silk polyester and
corsage of pink rosebuds.
Honoured guests at the wedding
were the bride's grandfather Fred
Ritchie and Mrs. Ritchie of
Huntsville.
For a wedding trip to Florida the
bride wore a coral knit dress.
The couple will reside at 4244
Petrolia Street, Petrolia.
Three showers, in honour of the
bride, were held previous to the
Wedding 'and the couple were
entertained at several couples
parties. A reception was held in
Ripley Community Centre on April
16 in their honour, when they were
presented with a purse of money
and other gifts.
Trinity 2
Trinity 2 held their 6th meeting
at the home of Gail Hackett at 7.00
p.m. on, April 19th. They opened
their meeting by repeating the 4-H
pledge. The roll call was answered
by six members.
Mrs. Campbell discussed and
demonstrated "Sewing in Sleeves'.
Cheryl Hackett discussed and
demonstrated "Hems and Slip
Stitchery" and "Sewing on But-
tons".
For group work the girls
participated in plans for Achieve-
ment Day and working on the
garments. The next meeting will be
held at the home of Sandra
Campbell's on April 26th at 7.00
p.m.
Institute Elects
- New Officers
The annual meeting of the
Luckpow Women's Institute was
held on Monday, April 18th at
12.30 when a delicious pot luck
dinner was served by the execut-
ive. Following the regular opening
exercises and grace the roll call was
answered by 26 members present,
with the payment of fees for
1977-78.
A minute's silence was observed
in memory of the late Mrs. Frank
Miller.
Mrs. Raymond Leddy gave a
very interesting report . on the
District Directors' meeting held in
Whitechurch. Correspondence was ,
read and $15 was donated to the
Lucknow Agricultural Society. It
was announced that the Brucelea
Haven Tea will be, held in the
afternoon and evening of May 5th.
The minutes of the 1976 annual
meeting and the treasurer's report
were read. Annual r,...ports were
given by the conveners.
The nominating committee re-
ported for the coming year and
Mrs. Philip Stewart conducted the
installation of the following officers
- past president, Mrs. Armstrong

Whitechurch Women's Mission-
ary Society held their April meeting
Wednesday, April 20th at the home
of Mrs. Bill Purdon.
. Mrs. Wallace Conn presided for
the worship service .and opened
with warm words of" welcome and.
the poem "Friendship", as call to
worship. All sang, Come let us
Sing. Mrs. Bill Purdon read the
scripture, Luke 24: 22 - 32,
The meditation was given by
Mrs. Earl 'Caslick. Mary was not
expecting to see Jesus. and was so
happy to see him when he spoke to
her and called her by name. We
wonder if we will know others in
- that- Better Lartd. The Bibte felts us
we shall know each other. Mrs. Bill
Evans led in prayer. All sang,
There is a green hill. Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin read a poem, Easter.
The topic, 'SeltiShneSS ' p was
given by 'Mrs. Wallace Conn. We
as Canadians can destroy ourselves
with selfishness. Christ gave His
life for and we are to live for
others. A poem, ,"Will You", was
read, by Mrs. John de 'Boer. Mrs.
Bill Rintoul gave a reading,
Beauty. •
Mrs. John de Boer, president,
presided for the business and
thanked those who prepared the
workshop. service. Mrs. Gordon
Rintoul, secretary, read the minut-
es and correspondence. The meet-
ing accepted an invitation to attend
the United Church spring thankoff-
ering to be held Wednesday, May 4
at 8.15 in the.charch with Rev. W.
BroWn speaker.
More plans were made for the
Presbyterial to be held 'May 16 in
Whitechurch. The next meeting of
the W.M.S. will be held at Mrs.
Gordon Rintoul's on May 12. It was
decided to cater for a meal for Mr.
and Mrs. Bev Kay on June 19 at
5.30.
The roll call was answered by 10
members answering with an Easter
verse. The offering was received
and dedicated by Mrs. Victor
Emerson. The hymn, Beneath. the
cross of Jesus, was sung. The
closing prayer was given by Mrs.
Dawson Craig.
The Ladies Aid meeting was
held. The collection was received
and the meeting closed with the
Mizpah Benediction.
Grace was sung and the hostess
served lunch. Mrs. Wm. Rintoul
gave the courtesy remarks.

Presbytery
Meet At Paisley
The spring meeting of Bruce
Presbytery, United Church, was
held in. Paisley United Church
Tuesday, April 19th.
Rev: Ted Hersey represented
Hamilton Conference and Miss
Audrey McKim, Division of World
Outreach,- was guest speaker. She
stressed the continuing need for
missionaries as well as water
engineers., carpenters, etc. not just
an appeal to young people but also
to older persons who have exper-
ience and technical skills to offer.
She cited the dedicated work of
many whose life's work is serving
the Master.
The 4 committee groups met and
them re-convened for the Commun-
ion Service ..
Dinner was served by the ladies •
of the church.
The afternoon was spent in
discussions and adoption of the
many reports.
.Presbytery adjourned to meet for
the June session at Hamilton
Conference, Saturday afternoon,
June 4.

closed with .prayer.
Langside
Ladies Aid
MAKE PRESENTATION
The Langside Ladies Aid held
their meeting on Tuesday evening
at the home of Mrs. Dave Moffat. It
was opened by singing "The Old
Rugged Cross".
The first Easter was read by Jean
Young with the meditation given by
Rudy de Boer. A reading was
given by Mabel Scott with prayer
by Eileen Moffat. The offertory
prayer was given by Jean Young.
,Cups and saucers were present-
ed to Mrs. Visser and Mrs. Wesley
Young, two members who had
moved away, 7 Mrs. Visser to
Wingham and Mrs. Young to
Lucknow. Both expressed their
thanks to the ladies.
The hymn "Safe in the arms of
Jesus' was sung. The meeting
closed with the Lord's Prayer after
which a delicious lunch was served
by the hostess.
