The Ripley Legion Hall was nicely decorated with pictures portraying the meaning of Easter and a lily, spring flowers and other reminders that it is the Easter season, for the Senior Citizen's meeting on Thursday, April 7th. Mrs. Frances Elliott greeted fifty-five members at the door. Reg Moore led a lively sing song. Accompanist for the whole pro- gram was Mrs. Violet MacKenzie and Mrs. Effie Sutherland was chairlady.. Mrs. Ellott gave two readings "What is a Farmer" and "Easter is Coming". A trio consisting of Mrs: 'Iohn A. MacDonald, Mrs. James Kirkpatrick and Reg Moore sang "The Bells of St. Marys" and "Tell Me Why". Mrs. Marjorie Reid conducted two contests, Mrs. Eileen Nesbitt played two piano selections. Mrs. Elliott also had some contests. A ladies chorus, consisting of Mrs. Kirkpatrick, Mrs. J. A. MacDonald, Mrs. Joe Scott, Mrs. Sutherland, Mrs. Blue sang "In Your Easter Bonnett". It was a rare treat to see beautiful Easter hats again and they were beauties. They also sang "Tip Toe Through the Tulips". Mrs. Suther- land read a comical piece entitled. "He and'She" and a few jokes with some good advice sprinkled throughout as well as a piece called "Spring Cleaning". Two beautiful solos were rendered by Mrs. Wallace Pollock "April Showers" and "The Holy City". The business meeting was con- ducted by Mrs. Arnold and Mrs, Blue. Members plan to attend Syrup Festival at Belmore, Thurs- day, April 14th. Ripley District High School cheerleaders are holding a-l-u-nch far Senior Citizen& at the High School on April 23rd, at noon. A committee of Mrs.. S. Shiells, Bert Irwin, Reg Godfrey and Mrs. Donnie' McDonald are to be in charge of a program following. There will be a zone rally on May 11th at Chesley Town Hall. The next nrieefing___wilL he a< pot luck lunch on May 23rd. The lunch committee was Mr: and Mrs. Frank Scott, Mrs. Peter McDonald, Mrs. Minnie Wyjds, Mrs. Minnie Henry, Mrs. Donald McCosh. THE LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO A small but pretty wedding took place at the home of the bride's parents at 495 Arthur Street, Wingham, on Saturday, April 2nd at 4.00 p.m. The ceremony was performed by Rev. Gerald E. Thompson, Tees- water, amid a setting of pink and white streamers and pink and white bells with the back ground white and pink candles,centred with a two tiered wedding Fake. Eldon Bruce, Thompson, fourth son of Mr. and Mrs. Bert Thomp- son, R. R. 3 Teeswater, took Kathy Mae Alton, only daughter of .Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Alton, to be his bride. Kathy, given in marriage by her father, looked lovely in a pale blue gown of polyester sheer with white velvet flowers, lined with white polyester crepe, sheer long sleev- es. A V-shaped ruffle trimmed the front of the dress down to the waist. Her train, made from° same material fell from waist to floor; and was held with covered buttons. A four-tier white veil which fell to her waist, had a crown of white roses. She carried a nosegay 'of pink and white roses and wore her mother's silver rhinestone necklace and ear rings. Miss Cheryle Thompson, sister of the groom, was bridesmaid wearing an orange red polyester dress with short flare sleeves, white lace wide brimmed hat,. and a gold necklace. The best man was Ralph Thomp- son, brother of the groom, R: R. 3 Teeswater. Bob Alton,. youngest brother of the bride, acted as usher. The groom, best man, two fathers and the usher wore a white carnation as a boutonniere. . The bride's mother wore a long black polyester crepe skirt with a turquoise long sleeved sheer blouse and red and white carnation corsage. The groom's mother wore a turylioise sleeveless dress and wore a red and white carnation corsage. Following the wedding a cold salad dinner was served at the bride's parents home. The bride later changed into a pink long sleeved blouse and pale green polyester slacks. The _couple will reside in Wingham. Prior to the wedding, Kathy was entertained at three showers. A kitchen shower was given by girlfriends at the home of the bride's parents, the Thompson relatives held a linen shower at Teeswater and a miscellaneous shower was given by the Alton relatives and former neighbours in Trinity United Church, Ashf:eld, where Kathy formerly lived and attended Sunday School. Agnes ,McDonald of Ripley passed away in Kincardine and District General Hospital on Satur- day, March 26, in her 80th year. Born in Bruce Mines, September 15, 1897, she was the youngest daughter of the late Kenneth MacKenzie and Sarah Smith. In November 1922 she married Norman C. McDonald. They resid- ed on a farm on the .8th concession, of Huron Township until 3 years ago when they retired to Ripley. She leaves, to mourn her husband Norman, one daughter Anna (Mrs. Don MacTavish) of Ripley, three granddaughters, Barbara (Mrs. Charles Liddle),, Jean (Mrs. Ian MacDonald), Marg MacTavish, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters. She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church, Ripley, St. Andrew's. U.C.W. and Ripley Senior Citizens. Funeral service was held on March 28 at the MacLennan McCreath Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Bushell officiating. Pallbearers were Ian MacDon- ald, Charles Liddle, and nephews Ira Mills, Earl Nicholson, Dan MacDonald and Rod MacDonald. .Final resting place is Ripley Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs, Fred Tiffin visited on Sunday with Mrs. Robert Ross at LuL.knov, Lodge. iR.know Bantam D hockc team on Saturday played Port Carling team at Lucknow with a score 5-2 in favour of Lucknow , On Sunday the Lucknow team went to Port Carling for a return game with a score 8-3 in favour of .Port Carling. Richard Moore is a member of this team. Mr. and Mrs, Walter Moore accompanied the team to Port Carling on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Carman Whvtock and Jack were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Carman Haines of Wingham. The Young Peoples Society geld their meeting Sunday evening at Langside Church.
