Ontario phone 595-4941 PAGE TWENTY This Week In Ripley BY AB WYLDS Lois and Helen Wardell of New Hamburg, and Florence Wardell of Huron, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie' Wardell, concession 4, Huron Township, visited the Grand Ole Oprey in Nashville, Tennessee during the Easter weekend. The return of snow blizzards in the middle of last week caused Ripley folks to remember that winter's last snowstorm two years ago caused several of the heavy timbers in the complex to blow down and smash. It was also in early April. * * * 41" * Last Thursday, Niels and Norah Frederiksen of Ripley were in Owen Sound. • Visiting with Norman and Mabel Barnard were members of their family, daughter Shirley, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Burnham and Shan- non of Kincardine; their grand- daughter Miss Dawn Burnham of London; and their son Don of Toronto. Both a Golden and Silver Wedding anniversary were cele- brated in Ripley last Saturday evening for two different couples. • For Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Needham, a golden wedding anni- versary dinner was held with the family members attending. It was in St. Andrew's United Church Sunday School room (basement) and the ladies of the church did the catering. A dance was held for Mr. and Mrs. -Glen -Mrartrin -the complex on the occasion of their silver wedding anniversary. * * * * * * In Ripley, for the Easter week- end with Mr. and Mrs. Francis Gemmell, were their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Gemmell of Brampton and their daughter Ann and husband, Dr. and and Mrs. K. C. Smith of Kitchener, also Mrs. Gemmeil's sister, Mrs. Frank lnksater of Paris. At this time Mr. Lloyd Irwin of Ripley is quite ill in Kincardine Hospital. Ripley folks are sorry to learn this. Up visiting relatives in Ripley and Huron Township were Johnny and Karen Wyld of Weston.. The former Karen Gale, Mrs. Wyld is employed with the Board of Education. * * * * * * Home for the Easter holiday weekend were Dave and Valerie Gibson and children Dan and Julie --London: —They - visited- —with- Valerie's parents, Donald and Alma Gillies, and with her grand- mother Mrs. Frances Gillies. For the second time in the past month Ripley drover Leonard Courtney of the Amberley area and Wally Pollock who farms on the 15th north of Ripley received mention on the Saturday weekly report for top priced cattle at the Ontario Livestock Market in Tor- onto. For the , past couple of weeks, Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Ford (the former Martha Robertson) and daughters Marilyn and Linda of Coburg are visiting with her mother Mrs. John Robertson and with her sister Miss Christena Robertson here in Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Bell were here from Islington. Donald and Angela were at their Ripley home and renewed acquaintances. They plan to return again in two weeks. Mrs. Marjorie Brook and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Doupe of Kincard- ine attended the Baptismal service at the Christian Reformed Church, Lucknow on Sunday, April 10. Baby Benjamin Michel Beishuzen, son of Linda and Ben, was baptized. Dinner was enjoyed by the family following the service. Currie Colwell, Anne and Chris of Lucknow, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Colwell of Kinloss, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Colwell of Kincardine were dinner guest's on Thursday of Mr. and Mrs. Don McCosh. Mrs. Roy Webster of London visited with her mother Mrs Gladys Mason on Wednesday. Gladys returned to London with Reta and remained for the Easter holiday. There were about fifty of the young and young at heart attending the Youth Easter Sunrise and Breakfast service at St. Andrew's United Church Sunday, April 10th at 7.30 a.m. sponsored by the Junior Farmers and congregation with minister Rev. James Bushell in charge. Mrs. Bill Crawford and Mrs. Orah Crawford were in London last week visiting with Orah who underwent surgery in St. Joseph's Hospital. All Ripley friends hope Orah makes a good recovery. Tanner Brooks, Kincardine spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Brooks and family. Mrs. Elizabeth MacDonald ac- companied her daughter, Mrs. Marion Walden and family, to visit with her granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Chowen, her husband and family.
