The April meeting ...and Easter
Thankoffering. •of South Kinloss
Women's Missionary Society was
held.April 6th at the home of Mrs.
Ira Dickie in Goderich. The
members gathered at 12 noon and
enjoyed a noon luncheon.
The president, Mrs. Philip Steer,
welcomed 17. members and 3
visitors. The program. from the •
Glad Tidings was followed - the
Easter Stony with .readings and
singing. Mrs, Lloyd MacDougall
gave a reading '"Faith".
Business was as f6llows: the
Presbyterial of the W.M.S. is to be
in Whitechurch May , 16th; the
Synodical will bp in Stratford April
12 . and 13,' Mrs. Philip Steer a
delegate from Maitland Presby-
terial. • The "Dock" project was'
again brought to the attention of
those present 'to think about doing
something by next month .toward
supporting this project, •
Mrs. Ira Dickie was. called upon
to introduce . the special speaker
Mrs. Clayton Edwards, Goderich.
Mrs. Edwards brought to mind ,
many "Easter Thoughts". What is
the Easter message? .'What does
Easter mean to you.? What 'is the.
real message of Eater? 'Our
response to Easter? We are living.
in a confused world. Our lives are a
testimony of the Easter message.
The triumphant message of Easter,
One in Faith and Purpose, conclud-
ing with a prayer by Peter.
Marshall.
Mrs. Ted Collyer, expressed
thanks to Mrs. Edwards. for a
'splendid message of Easter, and
presented" her with a gift. -The
offertory prayer was by Mrs'.
Allan MacDougall. The roll call
was' an Easter verse.
Mrs. Douglas Graham gave the
Bible Study, Women at the Cross.
The courtesies were by Mrs. Fraser
MacKinnon. The hymn, Jesus
keep me near the cross, was sung
and Mrs. Wm. Maclntyre closed
the meeting with prayer.

On Wednesday,: April 6, the
Dungannon W.I. met at the home
of Mrs. Alvin Kerr at 12.30 p.m. for
the annual, meeting.
Mrs. Elmer Black, president,:

and three children to' the pot luck
dinner and meeting. Following the
W.I. grace everyone enjoyed
"sampling" many varieties of
tempting foods from the well-laden
table. Tea and coffee were served
by Mrs. Kerr.

Guelph in the form of a banquet.
The. spring concert at Brookside
School is May 5, and music night at
Goderich is May 12. A report re
Huronview Auxiliary craft room
and their tea and 'bake sale was
given. It is hoped to have the draw
for the quilt and afghan at the June
meeting. A committee was named
to look after cards for the sick and
shut ins at Easter. Three members
attended the executive meeting at
Belgrave, Monday, April 4, to help
Mrs. Zinn and Mrs'. Irvin reported.
A delayed letter from the
Provincial president, Mrs. Herb
Maluske of Chesley, was read and
its suggestions noted. Open House
at the Erland Lee Home is June
6-W and W.I. members are urged
to visit. Several quilt blocks were
on display, a project to raise money
by their sale at the Erland Lee on Monday night, April 4th. presided and called the meeting to
Home. The 80th ' anniversary Mrs. Morley Johnston had ' order. Fr. Dentinger led in prayer
charge of the meeting. Mrs. and read the scripture reading.
Johnston gave the call to worship Karla Hogan reported that a 25th
followed with hymn 440. Mrs. anniversary gift had been given to
Murray Wilson read the scripture Mr. and Mrs. Joe Boel.

killings and abortion. Motions were
made to send donations to Hondur-

Jesuits, the Bolivian Missions, and
two' missionary nuns, who are
sisters of members Bertha Knoop
and Jean Van Rooy.
Mary O'Keefe gave the treasur-
er's report and read a letter from
Er. O'Loughlin thanking us for our

the church is needed. . Motions
Were made to pay for extra help
needed by Br. Carl for cleaning of
the rectory; to supply Fr. and Br.

and to pay for the fuel used for
meetings in the. basement.
Pro-iife convener, Clarice Dal-
ton, talked of the Festival for Life
May 5, b, 7 and. urged members to
go. Bus leaves from Stratford
midnight May 5. They are asking '
for letters in response to the family
planning clinics, proposed by Marc
Lalonde, and the sex pamphlets
used in schools. A donation will be
given to Pro-Life. We are
reminded to keep the plastic tabs
from bread bags fOr.C.NA.B.

Following the Bible :Study Mrs.
Robt. Reid led in prayer. 18 ladies
answered the roll call. The
secretary read the correspondence.
The SynodicaA will meet in
Stratford April 12th and 13th: The
Easter Thankoffering will .be held
in the church hall on April 19th.
The Maitland Presbyterial will be
held in Whitechurch on May 16th.
Mrs. Robt. Reid was appointed •to

tion, "Joy from a stone, rolled
away". Hymn 106 was sung.
The business followed with Mrs./
Ernest Snowden in charge. The
meeting closed with hymn 474.
Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. S. Chamney
assisted the hostess with lunch and
a social time was enjoyed.
The April meeting of Donny- Twenty-one members attended
br9ok United Church. Women was the April meeting of Kingsbridge
held at the home of Mrs. H. Catholic Women's League in the

coming up and Garvey speeches
will be said the 21st of April. Mary
Luanne Clare has, been doing' very
well in her public speaking and
goes to Peterborough beginning of
May to compete for Ontario,
Labrador and Quebec. Congratula-
tions Mary Luanne!
Fr. Dentinger gave a talk on the
co-operation he finds in the parish
community .and the good spiritual
participation during Lent. The
Diocesan Council convention will
be held in Chatham May 10 and 11,
.Fr. led in prayer and the meeting
was closed.
Marion Austin turned the meet-
ing over to the nomination commit-
tee, Ann Berry, Betty Frayne and
Fran Riegling who conducted the
election of new executive as
follows: president, Marion Austin;

Whitechurch Women's Institute
held their curator meeting on
Wednesday, March 9 at 2 p.m. at
the home of Mrs. Victor Emerson.
The president Mrs. Russel
McGuire opened the meeting with
the Ode and Creed. She gave an
explanation on the line of the creed
"without self pity and, prejudice"
Many carry yesterdays mistakes
forward instead of leaving these
behind. Trial and affliction develop
the character (e.g. Helen Keller
living a life of determination).
Learn to put away self pity as no
one is perfect. /She welcomed all
present.

committee made preparations for
the noon luncheon.
On March 28th a convener's
meeting is to be held at Mrs.
McGuire's to prepare the reports.
It was decided to cater for a SOth
wedding anniversary with Mrs.
McGuire, Mrs. Currie, Mrs.Rintoul
and Mrs. Tiffin a committee in
charge. It was decided to celebrate
the 50th anniversary of the
Institute in the fall with a
committee, of Mrs. 'Emerson, Mrs.
Evans and Mrs. J. Currie in
charge. The Variety Concert
committee is Mrs. Fisher and Miss
Merle Wilson. •
Mrs. Emerson opened the curat-
or topic with reading Good Old
Days and Canada Today. Ways of
travelling in the country in winter
were given by Mrs. Fred Tiffin.
The motto "Todays and yeSter-
days are the blocks with which we
build" was prepared by Mrs.
Emerson and read by Mrs. Bill
Evans. Community singing with
Mrs. Don Ross pianist was
enjoyed. A reading Along Pioneer
Trails was given by Mrs. Jas.
McInnes and Mrs. Johnston Conn.
The topic, The Old Days, were
tough but we still have fond
memories of the old wood stove,
was given by Mrs. V. Emerson.
The superstitions believed in by the
pioneers was given by Mrs. Bill
Evans and Mfs. Emerson gave a
reading, The Midway and Girlie
Shows of the Olden Days.
