Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority today received approval
from the Ontario Government to
carry out demolition and landscap-
ing of dwelling sites acquired in the
Turnberry floodplain.
An Ontario grant of $54,000 over
a four-year period will, according to
Natural Resources Minister Frank
S. Miller, permit the Authority to
proceed with the Turnberry flood-
plain project which includes long-
term acquisition of floodplain
properties.
The project area is situated along
the Maitland River, immediately
west of Wingham, and comprises
some 100 acres including a number
of dwellings. As these dwellings
are acquired, they will be demol-
ished and the sites landscaped.
The area has a long history of
flooding and the most recent floods
in April and August, 1975, and in
March of last year, caused substan-
tial damage:

visited with Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Fry (Florence Haldenby) at Harris-
ton. Their son Rob of Kitchener,
was also home on Sunday'. Flor-
ence's many friends here , are
pleased to know that she is making
favourable progress.

Holyrood Women's Institute will be
held at the home of Mrs. Lorne
Eadie on Thursday afternoon, April
7th.
Mrs. Bert Nicholson is spending
this week at Erin with lit'. grand-
children Linda, Larry and Lisa
Evans, while their parents Mr. and
Mrs. Ted Evans are enjoying a
holiday.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Scott spent
the past week with Barbara and
Blair SCott, while their parents Bill
and Bertha Scott were enjoying a
holiday.
Mrs. Arthur Phillips returned
home to Fonthill after spending a
few days at the Maulden home.
Mrs. Levi Eckenswillet of Lon-
don (the former Mary Graham)
underwent surgery at St. Joseph's
Hospital on Wednesday. We are
pleased to report that she is coming
along well and we hope for a good
recovery.
