LUCKNOW, ONTARIO Trinity 1 Trinity I held their third 4-H meeting at the home of Mrs. Charles Wilkins at 7.00 p.m. on March 29. The next meeting will be held at the home of Mrs. Herb Wilkins at 7.00 p.m. on April 12. Carol Ritchie read the minutes of the last meeting. Lori Hackett read the Home Assignment questions and the members answered them in turn. Mrs. Herb Wilkins discussed "Assembling the garment"; "Grain" and stay stitching"; "Gathers" and "Seams". Mrs. Charles Wilkins discussed ``Assembling the gar-merge' "Darts using tailor 'Larks and tracing paper" and "Seams". The leaders demonstrated the different seams and the members made samples of these seams. Eight Enthusiasts Eight Enthusiasts 4-H club opened with the 4-H pledge. Liz Black read the minutes. We received our covers. Nancy Ritchie read a letter she received. She handed out the pamphlets on achievement day, April 7th. We will hold our next meeting. April- 8th we are going to go to the sugar bush at Robinson's and hold a meeting after. We answered a quiz. We all read a part to do with safety in the home. Mrs. Ritchie read, asked questions and showed us different poisons, caution and attention signs. Mrs. Reavie read first aid in emergencies. Mrs. Reavie also read about babysitting and child care, parents' responsibilities and getting along with e•hldren. 6( : Naticy' Ritchie demonstrated , bathing a baby. We closed with the 4-H creed. Lounging Angels The fifth meeting of the Dungan- non Lounging Angels was held at Mrs. Errington's home on March 29. After repeating the 4-H pledge, 12 members answered the roll call, which was to suggest a topic for the exhibit and give 5 points to remember when setting it up. We chose "Trim with Imagination" and Kathy Pentland will be the commentator. For discussion and demonstration, the members dis- cussed facings and bias strips, then each person practised making them for group work. The next meeting will be April 12 at Mrs. Stewart's. Happy Gals The seventh meeting of Clover Valley Happy Gals 4-H club was held at the home of Karen Martyn on Tuesday, March 29th at 7.00. We opened the meeting with, the 4-H pledge. Gayle MacKenzie read the minutes of the last meeting: The next meeting will be held at the home of Joyce Elphick on April 11 at 9.15. The commentators for achieve- ment day are Karen Metzger and Joan Osborne. We closed the meeting with the 4-H creed. Trinity 2 Trinity 2 held their third 4-H meeting at the home of Donna Hackett on March 29th at 7.00 p.m. We opened the meeting by repeating the 4-H pledge. Our roll call "Give one point to remember when cutting or marking the fabric" was answered by 7 members. Cheryl Hackett discus- sed "Grain and Staystitching" and "Gathers". Mrs. Campbell dem- onstrated "Seams and Sleep- wear". Each girl participated in sewing seams. Our next meeting will be held at the home of Barbara Hackett on April 5th at 7.00 noon. • Two New , Secondary School Principals In Brine New principalship appointments have' been made for two Bruce County Secondary Schools. - William Setterington, who retir- es in June as principal of the Walkerton District Secondary School, will be succeeded by J. R. Marshall who is in his fourth year as principal of the 900-student North Lambton Secondary School in Forest. Prior to his appointment as a principal in Lambton County, Mr. Marshall had been Head of . Science in a secondary school in Hamilton and had served as a vice-principal in Port Credit and in Mississauga. In addition 'to his teaching experience he has been employed as a Geophysicist with Pan-American Petroleum. He is • married to the former Sheila MacKay of Kincardine. The Marshalls have four children • ranging in age from 4 - 17. The Wiarton District High.School will have as its principal Paul Cole who for the past nine years has been principal of the Bruce Peninsula District School in Lion's Head. Mr. Cole will replace Douglas Nickel who retires in June. While .principal at Lion's Head, Mr. Cole played a major role in developing new programs and a new organization for the school when it changed from a small high school to a combined elementary- secondary school with students from Grade 5 to Grade 13. Mr. Cole previously served on the staffs of high schools in Chesley, Windsor, Atikokan and Oakville. He is a past president and director of the Lion's Head Bruce Trail Club and is a cornier member of the Canadian Power Squadron. During Mr. Nickel's illness in 1974, Mr. Cole, in addition to his duties at Lion's Head, served as acting principal of the Wiarton District High. Schools for two months. Sleepyheads Second meeting of the St. Helens 4-H Sleepyheads was held at the hall on March 28. We opened with the' pledge and all the , members showed their pattern, material and trim and told the fibre content for roll call. The leaders showed how to alter a pattern. Plans for Achievement Day were discussed. The club welcomed .. Dawn Brown, a new member. We closed with the 4-H creed.
