KINGSBRIDGE
First Penance celebrations- were
held on Sunday afternoon, March
20th at 2 p.m. in St. Joseph's
Parish Church at Kingsbridge. The
following Grade 3 children took
part, their father's name in
brackets. •Darren Connelly (Den-
nis); Lonny Doherty' (Stan); Ther-
esa Foran (Gordon); Margaret
Knoop (Anthony); Edward Plass-
chaert (Albert); Craig Riegling
(Frank); Donna Thomson (Bruce);
John VanOsch (Joe); Linda Van-
Osch (Antone); Sally VanOsch
(Bill); Steven VanOsch (Peter);
Danny Wilson (Danny). Following
the penitential service the children
were shown a film strip and given a
talk by Reverend Father Ed
Dentinger, C.R. A gift in
remembrance of this day was
presented to the children by Mrs.
Barbara Eedy - Religion Instructor.
Parents and members of the
families were present for this
happy occasion.
A euchre party sponsored by the
Junior Farmers was held at
Brookside Public School on Mon-
day evening, March 21.
ENTERTAIN AT PINECREST
Members of the Kingsbridge
Catholic Women's League visited
with and supplied Irish entertain-
ment for the residents at the
Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in
Lucknow on Thursday afteinoon,
March 24. Honoured guests were
the following people who had
birthday in the month of March.
Miss Abigail Clifford, whose birth=
date was on March 5; Mrs. Annie
MacKenzie on March 12; Aubrey
Higgins on March 17th, a' real
Irishman; Charles Walmsley
March 21; Mrs. Elizabeth Dalton,
March. 21; Mrs. Aubrey Higgins,
March 24; and Mrs. Jean Scott,
another Irish Lassie born on St.
Patrick's day, March 17th. Mrs.
Rita Howard, chairlady for the
program called on the following

Mrs. Leonard Clarke and girls
visited with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Glenford Davis of Brantford.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarke went to
Chatham and helped move Mr. and
Mrs. Jim. Clark on Saturday to
Huntsville.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd MacDougall
visited with Grace MacDougall and
Audrey of Orangeville on the
weekend.
Congratulations were expressed
to Earl Stever when the Paradise
Lions Club presented him with a
plaque for five .years of perfect
attendance. Earl drives down to
Riedelberg twice monthly since
moving to, Kinloss three years ago.
The Pee Wee hockey team won
the consolation prize on Friday at
Young Canada week in Goderich
and Sunday at Seaforth.

selections accompanied by Mary
Clare followed by a sing song led
by Father Ed. Happy birthday was
'sung and gifts were presented to
the birthday celebrants. Apprecia-
tion was expressed by Aubrey
Higgins. A social hour followed
and patients who could not leave
their rooms were visited.
HOUSE LEAGUE PLAYOFFS
House League final playoff
hockey games were completed at
the Lucknow arena on Saturday,
March 26. Beginning at 10 a.m.
the Bruins met the Black Hawks in
the consolation round and defeated
them by a score of 3 to 2. The
Bruins played their second game of
the day at 12 noon against the
Rangers. At the end of regulation
time the score was tied at 1 each.
To break the tie 5 penalty shots
were allowed each team with the
Rangers winning out to take the
Consolation trophy.
In the Championship games the
Leafs played against the Red
Wings and defeated them 5 to 3 to
advance against the Canadiens.
Congratulations to the Canadiens
who defeated the Leafs. The
parents and families of the boys
who played in house league hockey
this past winter are invited to come
to the House League Hockey Night
' to be held on Monday. April 4th.
Beginning at 7.45 there will be an
hour's skating for everyone. An all
star game will be played between
8.45 and 9.45, the Canadiens.
Rangers and Black Hawks against
the Leafs, Bruins and Red Wings.
At 10 o'clock lunch at the Legion
Hall with presentation of awards.
A desSert euchre party, sponsor-
ed by the Dungannon Women's
Institute, was held at the Brookside
Public School on Wednesday
afternoon, March 23 beginning at
1.30 p.m. Desserts of creamed pies
and delicious yummy squares were
enjoyed, followed by euchre. There
were 23 tables of cards in play.
Prizes were given.
The Kintail Flyers, defeated
Lucknow Town and Country Hock- j
ey three games straight in a best 3
out of 5 series to win the
consolation trophy. For the
championship trophy, Holyrood is
playing against Ashfield and has
won 2 games, to 1 for Ashfield. The
next game is on Thursday, March
31st at the Lucknow arena. Your
support is needed.
REALIZE OVER $1200.
The Saltford Valley Hall was
filled to capacity and over $1200.00
was realized on Friday, March 25 at
the benefit dance for Mr. and Mrs.
Cletus Dalton, who lost their barn
by fire early Friday • morning,
January 21. The music for dancing
was supplied by Carruthers. Orch-
estra.
Schools re-opened on Monday
morning, March 28 following the
one week winter holiday break.
Mr. and Mrs. Ian Parker of Arva,
the former Donna Lannan of Kings-
bridge, visited with Mr. and Mrs.
Eldon Austin and family and with
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Courtney and
family on Sunday, March 27.
Mrs. Clarice Dalton and daught-
ers Bridgette, Jackie and Maria
and her nephew Mark Lalonde
returned to their home here on
Sunday afternoon, March 27th
following a week's vacation with
Eddie and Maureen (Dalton) Chil-
ton and family in Moose Factory,'
Ontario.
Mrs. Anne Sheardown and
children of St. Thomas spent the
past week with her mother Mrs.
Yvette Heffernan. Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Heffernan and family of
Essex visited with his mother and
sisters -from Wednesday until
Friday of last week. Mrs. Heffer-
nan returned to Essex with Albert
on Friday to spend a cOuple of
weeks there.
Reverend Father Lloyd Ryan of
Guelph visited with. Mr. and Mrs.
Walter Clare and Mary Luanne, on
Thursday, March 24 and attended
the bridge and euchre party and
the Scottish and Irish concert at the
Lucknow Town Hall.
