WHITECHURCH—Mrs. Daw-
son Craig readacripture from the
20th chapter of John's Gospel and
gaire a meditation on the passage
when the Women's Missionary
Society met Wednesday of last
week at the home of Mrs. Bill
Evans.
Mrs. Craig referred to Doubt-
ing Thomas and his lack of faith
when the Risen Christ appeared
before the other disciples. Jesus
showed them His hands and side
and He said, "As the Father sent
Me, so I send you". When the dis-
ciples told Thomas, he would not
believe until he saw for himself.
Eight days later, when Thomas
was confronted with the Risen
Jesus, he was told by Jesus to
stop doubting and believe.
Mrs. Evans opened the worship
service with a poem. A hymn was
sung, with Mrs". Andrew Gaunt
organist. Mrs. Wallace Conn led
in prayer and Mrs. William Pur-
don gave a reading, "To Walk
With Spring". Mrs. Wesley Tiffin
read an article entitled "Winds of
March".
The topic, "Spring", was pre-
pared by Mrs. Bev Kay and read
by Mrs. Victor Emerson. She
compared human life to the life of
a tulip bulb which lies in the cold
dainp earth with seemingly no
purpose. Then God comes and
through His miracle of life He
makes the tulip live and gives it
beauty. As Easter comes, Chris-
tians remember Jesus. -- beaten,
robbed, crucified — with seem-
ingly no purpose. But God's plan
was that His Son would go to the
cross so the sins of the world
could be forgiven.
"At Easter something new is
born," she said. "Easter gives us
happiness, releasing us into
God's glorious sunshine from a
living death into real life."
Readings were given by Mrs.
William Rintoul, Mrs. John
deBoer and Mrs. Andrew Gaunt.
The offering was received and
dedicated by Mrs. Earl Caslick.
Mrs. Gaunt then' taught the mem-
bers the theme song, "Things
Start Changing".
