' The first game in Norwich Friday, March 18, was a real thriller with Lucknow coming close time and again but unable to register the equalizer. Final score was Norwich 6, Lucknow 5. The second game was played in Lucknow. Sunday afternoon, March 20 when the largest crowd of the year saw the hoine team get behind in the first period and tie it up mid-way in the second, only •to allow two quick goals before the end of the period. The third period was all Norwich, as Lucknow, with one centre man in a cast, one away and one fighting the flu, struggled gamely but cony' not keep up the On Sunday, March 27, Lucknow Pee Wees travelled to Seaforth where they were entered in the District C Legion tournament. Lucknow was eligible because of being runner-up in the Zone tournament in Lucknow on the 2nd of January this year. The first game on Sunday they played Meaford defeating them 4-1. Goal scorers for Lucknow were Allan Eadie from Mike Whitcroft, Art Clark from Allan Eadie, Kent Alton from George Alton and Kent Alton, from Art Clark. pace. Final score was Norwich 8, Lucknow 3. Back in Norwich Wednesday night of last week for the third game, Lucknow took a 1-0 lead in the first period and 3-1 at the'end of the second. However some very costly penalties and some "near misses" for Lucknow let Norwich again take the lead and,hang on for a 6-5 victory as the Lucknow lads kept the play in the Norwich territory for the last three minutes of play. Last Friday night the Norwich fans came in two buses and several cars to cheer their team to victory and were not disappointed. This game again saw the local boys playing catch-up hockey as they tied up the first period one all, got behind in the second and tied it up again in the third only to have Norwich come back for two more before the period ended to win the Lucknow received a bye in the next round and went into the finals against Exeter. Exeter proved too much for Lucknow defeating them 4-2. Goal scorers for Lucknow were Kent Alton, unassisted and Dave Gibson from Glen Raynard and Paul MacIntyre. Lucknow received a runner-up trophy and crests for all the players. The Lucknow Pee Wees and their management would like to thank the Lucknow Legion Branch 309 for their support, financially in these tournaments. game 5-3 and advance to the OMHA finals. CANADIAN ADVERTISING ADVISORY BOARD BLACK HAWKS ARE CONSOLATION CHAMPS On March 26th, in the first game, the Bruins edged the Rangers 3 to 2 to advance to the consolation finals. Robt. Steffler from Mike Austin opened the scoring for the Rangers. In the second period Steven Davidson tied the score with Mike Dennis picking up the assist. Chris Naylor then tallied for the Bruins, assisted by Carl Courtney. Mike Dennis dented the twine for the Bruins in the third before Richard Jurjens, from David VanOsch, completed the scoring. In the second game, the Leafs defeated the Red Wings . 5 to 3. Allan Stanley opened, the scoring for the Leafs. Peter Kohnert tied the score in the first period. In the second period the Leafs scored 3 goals by Kevin Machan, Kevin Lindsay and Eddie VanOsch. Eddie VanOsch registered one assist. The Red Wings replied with Eric Haldenby denting the twine. In the third period they' battled on even terms with Eddie Husk notching a goal and Ken Ritchie replying for the Leafs. By virtue of this win, the Leafs advanced to the champion- ship. In the third game, after regula- tion time, the Black Hawks and Bruins battled to a 1-1 tie. Ken Irwin from Stephen Frayne opened the scoring for the Bruins. In the third period the Black Hawks tied the game on Brian Arnold's goal from Mark Abbott and David Atkinson. Penalty shots were taken to break the tie. Terry Brown, Bobby Hackett and Brian Arnold beat the Bruin goalie, Eddie Davidson. Blair Alton was the only Bruin able to slip one past the Black Hawk goalie, Mike Frayne. Congratulations to the Black Hawks on winning the Consolation Trophy. In the fourth and final game, the Canadiens, who were league cham- pions, blanked the Leafs 4 to 0. The Leafs were missing two of their first line players. In the first period Bernie Burgsma tallied twice with assists going to Jim Foran and Hugh Burgsma. In the second period Jim Foran added another from Bernie• Burgsma. In the third period Jim Foran completed the scoring for the Canadiens with assists from Bernie Burgsma and Gerald Martin. Allan McWhinney registered the shut out. Congratu- lations to the Canadiens on winning OLIVET Mr. and Mrs. Bert White and family of Birr visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Oscar White. Mr. and Mrs. Ron McGuire and Chris visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Reeves and family of Ripley. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Bennett and family of Burlington spent last week at their summer home here. Misses Wendy Hamilton and Allison MacKay spent a couple of days last week in Kitchener with Allison's sister. Joyce Black of Kitchener spent the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Walter Black. Mrs. Robert Engel and family of Dublin visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Black and Mr. and Mrs. Jack McGuire and family. Mrs. Jim McNairn and children of Seaforth visited for a couple of days last week with Mr. and Mts. Oscar White. the Championship Trophy. house League hockey night is set for Monday, April 4th. At 7.45 'the parents and families will enjoy an hour of skating. At 8.45 there will be an all star game, to be followed by lunch at , the Legion Hall. Representing the all stars will be Allan McWhinney, Hugh Burgs- ma, Bill Foran, Gerald Martin, Bernie Burgsma and Jim Foran of the Canadiens; Brian VanOsch, David VanOsch, Richard Jurjens, Morris VanOsch, Barry Austin and Peter VanDyke of the Rangers; Bobby Hackett, Brian Arnold, Mike Frayne, David Atkinson and Mark Abbott of the Black Hawks with Harry Burgsma as coach. Opposing the above squad will be Steve Pritchard, Ken Ritchie, Allan Stanley, Eddie VanOsch, Kevin Lindsay, Gary VanBeers of the Leafs; Eddie Davidson, Mike Dennis, Blair Alton, Steven David- son, John Hopf and Steven Frayne of the Bruins; Mark Haldenby, Tim Edisbury, John Edisbury, Ed Husk and John Husk of the Red Wings with Bob MacGillivray as coach.
