A dessert bridge, sponsored by
the Lucknow Ranger Co., was held
Thursday evening, March 17 in the
basement of the Lucknow Town
Hall.
There were eight tables of ladies

playing bridge. The high prize was
won by Mrs. Harold Ritchie, the
low prize by Mrs. Brock Cleland
and the lucky chair prize by Mrs.
Jack MacDonald.
The evening was planned by
Rangers Barbara Cameron, Susan
Thompson, Lorna Boyle, Kathryn
McKim and Edith Greer and their
leader Sharon Campbell.
THAT
Dr. Barbara Cameron of Aylmer,
daughter of Mrs. Mildred Cameron
of Lucknow, was a recent speaker
at the Ontario Veterinarian -Con-
vention at the Skyline Hotel at
Toronto.
THAT
The Order of the Eastern. Star,
'Wingham, held their annual
Church Service in the United
Church in Wingham on Sunday,
March 20.
The Worthy Matron, Mrs. Pearl
Bell, read the responsive reading
and the Worthy Patron, Scott Reid,
read the scripture..
Town & Country
Irish Program
The Toikn and Country held an
Irish program at the Legion Hall on
Wednesday, March 6 at 2 o'clock.
There was 'a very rice crowd in
attendance. President Pharis
Mathers welcomed everyone. The
club opened with their theme song
and 0 Canada, Mrs. Rice is pianist
and Nfirs. Clare Johnstone held a
short sing song to get the feel of the
Irish spirit. A Little Bit of The
Blarney ,Stone was- read by Mrs.
Anna Johnstone. Walter Dexter
offered two Irish numbers in a solo
with Mrs. Peter Cook as pianist.
Mrs. Philip Stewart gave a
humorous reading. A group of
ladies, Mrs. Jack Wraith, Mrs. Bob
Reid, Mrs. Don Cardis, Mrs. Eldon
Henderson, and Mrs. Marsh Gib-
son, sang some Irish numbers with
pianist . Mrs. Peter Cook. Ed
Mcquillin favoured with some Irish
selections on the violin. One of the
older members who is a resident at
the Home spoke a few words and
Mrs. Anna Johnstone led the folks
in singing Happy Birthday to
Aubrey Higgins who was celebrat-
ing his birthday. Mrs. Phonse
Murray gave a reading. Mrs. Anna
Johnstone gave a solo and was her
own pianist.
A hurnorous reading was given
by Brother Carl. Mrs. Roy Mac-
Kenzie from Ripley Senior Citizens
spoke on a book Rev. MacKenzie
wrote which was for sale to any of
the members. Mrs. Rutherford
favoured with a piano solo. Bill
Johnston step danced with Mrs.
Roy MacKenzie at the piano. John
MacMurchy gave a few jokes and
told about some of his trip to
Ireland.
Mrs. Harvey Webster sang a
couple of Irish songs with Mrs. Dr.
Johnston as pianist. Members were
asked to send cards to Mrs. A. E.
McKim and Mrs. Joe MacMillan
who were missed by everyone at
the program. Some members from
Ripley Senior Citizens were visit-
ing. A very lovely Irish program
was enjoyed by all present.

Died Following
Long Illness
A lingering illness ended
Thursday, March 10, when Mrs.
Herman Muscheid of RR 4, Wing-
ham, passed away in the Wing-
ham and District Hospital in her
39th year.
The former Siebrigtje Antje
Jouwsma, Mrs. Muscheid was
born and educated in the Nether-
lands. She came to Canada with
her family in 1951 and lived in
Lucknow for three years before
coming to Wingham. She was a
graduate of the Registered Nnrc-
ing Assistant course of the
Wingham 'nd District Hospital.
She married Mr. Muscheid uti
April 24, 1959, in Wingham. He
survives, along with nine chil-
dren, Barbara, Angela, Olaf,
Sonja, Helga, Renata, Eric,
Thorsten and Natascha, all at
home. Also mourning her passing
are her parents, Otto Jouwsma
and the former Pietenella Piera
of RR 2, Wingham; four sisters,
Mrs. William (Dina) Nethery,
.Belgrave, Mrs. Russel (Janny)
Fear and Miss Rina Jouwsma,
both of Wingham, and Mrs.
Thomas (Ann) Nowicky, Amster-
dam, New York; and two
brothers, Cornelius Jouwsma of
Belleville and John Jouwsma,
Wingham.
She was predeceased by an
infant daughter in 1959 and one
sister in 1057.
The late Mrs. Muscheid rested
at the S. J. Walker Funeral Home
where visitation took place Fri-
day evening. Removal was made
Saturday to the Kingdom Hall of
Jehovah's Witnesses where
deceased was a member. Grant
Gollan conducted the funeral
service at two o'clock. A group of
approximately 15 nurses, in uni-
form, attended the service in' a
body and formed an honor guard
as the casket was taken from the
Hall. Interment followed in Wing-
ham Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Barry Gol-
tan, Lloyd Brighton, Gert Leude-
mann, Warren Rich, Glenn Sch-
wartzentruber and Donny
Fischer. Rosemarie Fear and
Murray, Fear carried floral tri-
butes.
GUIDE
NEWS
The regular weekly meeting of
the Lucknow Girl Guides was held
on Thursday, March 10th. After
opening exercises, announcements
were made.
On April 16th there will be a
Maitee District Volleyball tourna-
ment in Lucknow between the
Teeswater, Wingham and Lucknow
Guides. The following week they
move on to the Beaver Division
Volleyball Tournament in Wing-
ham. April 17th the Goderich
Guides will give a travelogue
on their trip to Mexico, at the
Wingham High School.
The girls worked on craft for the
evening. They made a small Indian
baby in papoose out of nylons and
felt. To correct an error in last
week's article, Mr. Murray of the
Ontario Ministry of Natural Re-
sources, not the Maitland Valley
Conservation , Authority, was the
instructor for the woodsman's
badge.
