Parents and Pre-School Children
On Saturday, March 12th, in the
opening game of the playoffs, the
Red Wings" edged the Black Hawks
4 to 3. In the first period Doug
Edisbury opened the scoring for
the Red Wings, The Black Hawks
evened the score in the second
period on a goal by Chris Cooke
from Scott McKim. In the third
period the Black Hawks went ahead
on a counter by Terry Brown from
Brian Smith. The Red Wings
fought back to tie the score on a
tally from Peter Kohnert, assisted
by Mark Gunter. On penalty shots,
David Atkinson dented the twine
for the Black HaWks while John
Edisbury and Tim Edisbury clicked
for the Red Wings.
In the second game, the Leafs
edged the Rangers 4 to 3. In the
first period Richard Jurjens tallied
twice for the Rangers with assists
to Morris VanOsch and David
Va.nOsch. In the second period the
Leafs fought back to even the count
with goals from Brent VanOsch and
Larry Smolenaars. Both assists
went to Troy Ritchie. In the third
period David VanOsch opened the
scoring with Richard Jurjens and

In Wingham
Kevin Murray, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Murray of Kinloss,
played Junior D hockey this year
with Wingham Ironmen. The
Ironmen were recently eliminated
by Fergus.
An article in the Wingham
Advance Times, appearing recengy
had the following to say about
Kevin.
Kevin Murray - a second year
Ironmen and one of' the most
imicroved veterans on the team.
Kevin, a strong centre excels in
winning those important face-offs.
He's an excellent playmaker - his
hard work has been instrumental in
his line being one, two, three in
team scoring. Kevin sees lots of ice
time killing penalties and at times
the puck appears tied to his stick.
And he's an importani man in the
dressing room with the ability to
keep the team in good spirit and
keyed-up for those big games.

The Leafs came back to tie the
game on a goal by Kevin Lindsay.
Then Troy Ritchie fired home the
winner on a pass from Kevin
Lindsay.
In the third game, the Canadiens
edged the Bruins in another closely
played contest 1 to 0. " Gerald
Martin notched the only counter for
the Canadiens. Allan McVVhinney4
registered the shut out.
On Saturday, March 26,- the
playoffs continue: 10.00, Rangers
vs Bruins; 11.00, Red' Wings vs
Leafs; 1.00, Black Hawks vs
winner of 10.00 o'clock game for
the consolation trophy; 1.00, Can-
adiens vs winner of 11 o'clock game
for the championship trophy.
Juveniles Lose To
Wainfleet In
O.M.H.A. Quarter
Final Series
Lucknow Juvenile hockey club,
after winning the 1st game in the
Ontario Minor Hockey Association
quarter finals against Wainfleet,
journeyed to Wainfleet with an
injury riddled team to play a game
Saturday and Sunday in the best of
3 series. bicknow lost the game
Saturday 7-3 and 5unday 7-4.
This ends further competition in
O.M.H.A., but the Juveniles drop
back into the W .0.A . A . grand
championship in which they have
already eliminated Clinton.
, Goal scorers in Saturday's game
were Tom Peterson 2, Rod Simpson
1; 1 assist each for Rick Conley,
Rick Taylor, Al Murray.
Goal scorers in Sundays game
were TOm Peterson 1 goal, 1 assist;
Tam Forster, Rick Taylor, 1 goal
each; Randy Alton, 1 goal, 1 assist;
Doug Schiell, 1 assist; Rick Conley,
1 assist; John McLeod, 2 assists.
When anyone gets too busy to

On Sunday ,night, hockey fans
saw Lucknow Midgets win their
All-Ontario • quarter-finals series
against Watford in the fourth game
of what started out to be a three
game series. •
Lucknow won the first game in
Watford Monday night in a close
game that ended 'in a 54 score.
Wednesday night in Lucknow the
teams played to a 6-6 tie at the end
of regulation time. Each team
registered once in the overtime for
a final- score of 7 goats each.
The third game played in"
Watford Saturday night was a high
scoring contest as the teams
battled end to end. with Watford
coming out on top of a 10-6 score.
This game tied the series at 3
points for each team with the need
of a tie breaking game being
scheduled for the Lucknow arena
Sunday night, the final date
allotted for the series.
In this game the Lucknow team
was treated to some terrific fan
support as the arena saw the best
crowd in years.
Lucknow scored the first goal,
but then Watford took over to lead
3-1 at the end of the first period.
Lucknow battled back to lead 6-4 at
the end of the second. Watford
scored the only goal of the , third
period with only 3.45 left to play.
Then they pulled their goal tender
in the final minute in favour of an
extra attacker,' but Fred Howald,
Pee Wees Lose
In Consolation
Lucknow Pee Wee hockey team
was defeated two games to one in
the best-of-three W.O.A.A. Pee
Wee "D" consolation series.
Tiverton played at Lucknow
March 11 and won 5-3.. Lucknow
goal scorers were Allan Eadie from
Mike Humphrey, Allan Eadie from
Mike Humphrey, David Gibson
from Glen Raynard.
On march 14, Lucknow played at
Tiverton losing out 9-8 in a close
one.

Lucknow had won the first game,
but lost out on the series.
Bantams Win
Quarter Finals
The Lucknow Bantam hockey
team defeated the Parkhill Bant-
ams on Tuesday, March 8 in the
Lucknow arena by a score of 7-4.
Lucknow won the O.M.H.A. quart-
er-final series 2 games straight and
went on into the Ontario Minor
Hockey Association semi-finals to
meet Wainfleet.
Scoring for Lucknow were Larry
MacPherson 2., Paul Hamilton 2,
Steve Simpson 1, Barry Elphick 1,
Allan Rivett 1.
Assists went to Don Elliott 2,
Steve MacPherson 2, Paul Hamil-
ton 2, Doug Dorscht 1, Paul Finlay
1, Allan Rivett 1, Steve Simpson 1.

who played all four games in net for
Lucknow, proved to be too much for
the visitors as •he stood his ground
and held on for a 6-5 victory.
. Point getters for this series are
Mark Frayne 14 points; JiM
VanOsch 12; Tom Sinnett and Eric
Cayley 8 each; Dan Londry 3; Pat
Murray, Ron Johnson, Steve Ham-
ilton, Grant Gilchrist, Ian Morton
and Randy Guay, 1 point each.
Randy Guay, who has been
killing penalties and Centering the
third line- all year, .be out for
the rest of the season with a broken
ankle received in the first game.
Lucknow now meets Norwich in
the O.M.H.A. semi-finals. The
schedule is not final as yet, but
Lucknow's first game will be at 3
p.m. on Sunday, March 20 in a
break in the Wingham Midget
Tournament schedule.
Tournament Slated
For This Weekend
13 games of the Wingham
Midget hockey tournament will be
played in Lucknow arena this week,
March 18, 19 and 20. Some of the
tournament will be played in
Howick arena with the majority of
the games in Wingham. 56 teams
are competing this year, up from 32
last year, making it impossible to
accommodate in one arena.
The games are scheduled to
begin in Lucknow Friday at 5 p.m.
and run Friday evening, all day
Saturday and part of Sunday.
The kickoff game is Friday at 5
p.m. in the B series, Listowel and
Exeter. At 7 p.m. Strathroy and
Elmira will play in the B series. The
9 p.m. game is in the C series and
will feature Lucknow and Durham.
It is difficult to spell out who will
be playing at each time Saturday as
the surviving teams in the elimina-
tion play are not known until they
play their preliminaries.
The teams will start at 9 a.m.
Saturday with a new game each two
hours until 9 p.m. Definitely
scheduled games are 1 p.m., Port
Perry and Ridgetown; 3 p.m.,
Windsor and Waterloo, with the
remaining games depending on
who wins or loses the preliminar-
ies.
On Sunday there will be three,
games played.. The 1 p.m. game
will feature Fraser Flags and
London in the AAA series. The
other two games will be at 5 p.m.
and 9 p.m. in the C and A series.

Wainfleet Team In
Semi Final Series
On Saturday, March 12, •the
Lucknow Bantam • hockey team
played their first game of the
O.M.H.A. semi-finals against
Wainfleet • here at the arena. This
series is a best 3 out of 5. Lucknow
won this game in overtime by a
score of 4-2.
