This community was sorry to
learn on Saturday that Stewart
Scott, formerly of Langside now
residing at Brucelea Haven Walk-
erton, had passed away. He is a
brother-in-law of Mr. and Mrs.
Wallace Conn. His wife, the late
Maud Conn, was a sister of
Wallace Conn and Johnston Conn
of Wingham. The community

Mr. and Mrs. Brian Falconer of
Sarnia spent the weekend with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace
Milligan and Mr. and Mrs. Robert
Mowbray.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Purdon
returned this week from their tour
and Mrs. Bill Evans returned on
Tuesday from her vacation at
Florida.
FRACTURES WRIST
We are sorry to report that Mrs.
Christopher had the misfortune to
fall at her home, where she lives
with her daughter Mrs. Day and
Mr. Day and family, and a bone
was broken in her left wrist. She is
wished a very speedy recovery by
her many friends in the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Mac Armstrong
and baby , daughter of Culross
visited Sunday with her parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Conn.
Mr. and Mrs. Russel McGuire on
Saturday evening were at Palmer-
ston to celebrate her father, Mr.
Clendon Bramhill's 80th birthday.
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Barclay of
Lambeth were Saturday callers' on
her grandmother Mrs. Gershom
Johnston of Wingham. They were
on their way to spend the weekend
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Clarence Ritchie of 2nd concession
Kinloss.
Mr. and Mrs. Gary Rintoul and
Miss Gayle Rintoul on Saturday
attended a 4-H calf club sale at
Waterloo. Mr. and Mrs. Leroy
Rintoul, Carol, Kimberley and
Debbie of Tottenham were also
there. Leroy had some Charolais
calves to enter in the sale.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Donnelly,
Angela and Jill of Streetsville spent
the weekend with her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Wallace Milligan.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Laidlaw,
Janet and Kimberley were Sunday
visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Don
Habkirk of Milton.
The community is sorry to learn
that little Tracey Visser, daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. John, Visser, is
confined to Wingham Hospital with
a chest condition. Her many friends
wish her a very speedy recovery.
Elleda Elizabeth Irwin passed
away suddenly on Sunday, Febru-
ary 27th at Queensway Hospital,
Toronto.
She was born on September
11th, 1901 in Ashfield ,Township, a
daughter of the late Thomas and
Mary Cynthia Irwin. She attended
school at Lucknow and later
Business C011ege at. Wingham.
In 1920. Miss Irwin went to
Toronto where she has resided
ever since. She worked at office
work at Aikenhead Hardware for
twelve years, twelve years at
Eaton's and then worked for 21
years at the Department of
Revenue until her retirement at 65.
The late Miss Irwin is survived
by two brothers Alvin and Leonard,
both of Lucknow.
She was predeceased by one
sister, Mrs. Thomas (Rena) Hack-,
ett and two brothers St. Clair and
Emerson.
The funeral service was held at
MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on March 1st with the
Rev. Douglai Kaufman of Lucknow
United Church conducting the
service.
Pallbearers were Watson Web-
ster and Melvin Webster of
Clinton, Murray Henderson, Ross
Henderson, Harvey Ritchie, of R.
R. 3 Lucknow and Robert Reid of
Lucknow.
95th Birthday
At Huronvilla
• A supper and birthday party was
held in the lounge at Huronvilla,
Ripley for Mrs. Belle Henry, who
marked her 95th birthday.
Tables were set up in the lounge
for 24 residents, who live there, for
supper at 6 p.m. The table was
decorated with flowers and a
beautifully decorated cake with
candles made and decorated by
Mrs. Jack Brown.
The candles were lit and blown
out by Mrs. Henry. She was
presented with the cake and a huge
box of canned fruits and fruits of all
kinds. Mrs. Henry, in her gracious
manner,, thanked all the residents
for the lovely supper' and gift. The
evening was spent in card playing
which she enjoyed all evening.
All sang Happy Birthday to her
as she came to the table. She
looked lovely in her beautiful dress
and corsage of pink. carnations
made by Mrs. Lot Culbert. All
wish her many' more happy
birthdays. Everyone enjoyed the
social evening together.

PUBLIC SPEAKING
Everyone in grade four, five and
six wrote the speeches. The pupils
from each class with the best
speeches competed in the auditor-
ium on February 24. The contest-
ants were Janice Needham, Leah
Coulbeck, Rodney Sutton, Ian
Culbert, Andrea Farrell, Ross
Farrell, Gary Rutledge, Joe Nugent
and Barbara Scott. The top three of
these were Janice Needham, Leah
Coulbeck and Rodney Sutton.
The judges were Mr. Green-
wood, Mr. Barber and Mr.
Douglas.
The three winners went to the
Legion Hall, Ripley on March 1.
There Leah Coulbeck came first,
Janice Needham came second and
Rodney,.. Sutton came third.
The staff and pupils at Ripley-
Huron Central would like to
congratulate these lucky people.
GRADE TWO
We have two new pupils in our
class. Ronnie Teather comes from
Wellington County and Romana
Jack comes from Bruce Township
Central School. We are glad, to
have them in our class.
