Mr. and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw of
Windsor spent the weekend with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elroy
Laidlaw and Mr. and Mrs. Walter
Elliott.
VISIT NURSING HOME
Members of Whitecliurch W.I.
residing in Wingham, last week
visited Brookhaven Nursing Home.
Present were Mrs. John A. Currie,
Miss Merle Wilson, Mrs. George
Fisher, Mrs. Jim Wilson, Mrs.
Johnston Conn. Several old time
songs were sung in which the
residents joined. Readings were
given by Miss Merle Wilson and
Mrs. Aril Wilson. Solos, My Task
and How Great Thou Art, were
sung by Mrs. George Fisher.
Birthday cake was served and the 2
men having birthdays were given a
spray of mums..
Mr. and Mrs. Herb Hunter of
London on 'Sunday 'visited with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace
Conn, and Trevor who had spent
the weekend at the Conn home
returned home with them.
Mrs. Gordon Rintoul and Gayle
returned home on Sunday from
Tpttenham. Gayle had accompan-
ied Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Rintoul to a
cattle show at Texas and Mrs.
Rintoul had visited with Carol,
Kimberley and Debbie RintOul,
while their parents were at Texas.
Mrs. Ella Johnston of Wingham
quietly celebrated her 85th birth-
day recently when Mr. and Mrs.
Stewart Smith of Kitchener and
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Johnston, Carol
Ann and Ruth Ann of Listowel,
visited her and each family br9ught
along a beautiful decorated birth-
day cake. Ken Johnston of British,
Columbia phoned her to extend
their congratulations.
Mr. and Mrs. 'Bill Wilkens and
family of Gowanstown were Satur-
day visitors with his parents Mr.
and Mrs. Earl Wilkens.
BRIDAL SHOWER
On Friday evening a shower was
held in Whitechurch Community
Memorial Hall for bride-to-be Miss
Rhonda Gibson. The hall was
decorated with pink and white
streamers attached to p setee and
fastened to lovely big white bells.
While the crowd was gathering
Mrs. Don Ross played several
piano numbers and as the bridal
party entered she played Here
Comes the Bride. Mrs. Don Caesar
was master of ceremonies and
called on Mrs. Victor Emerson who
gove readings, The Marriage
Contract, The Suitors Lament,
They Met in the Park and The
Income Tax. Mrs. Don Ross gave
piano instrumentals, I'm Throwing '
Rice at the Girl I Love and Paper
Roses. Mrs. Caesar then called on
Rhonda Gibson, bride-to-be, and
her helpers, Linda Moore and
Patsy Scott to come to seats of
honour on the platform. Mrs.
Caesar then read an address to
Rhonda. The helpers Janet
Laidlaw, Vickie Scott, Donna
Thompson and Dawn Adams,
carried the gifts and placed them
on the tables. A necklace of bows
was made by -grandmothers Mrs.
George Fisher and Mrs. M. Gibson
and mothers Mrs. Bill Gibson and
Mrs. Frank.
Among the many gifts received
were towels, glasses, pillows,
pillow cases, quilt, card table and 4
chairs, coffee maker, spice rack,
dessert dish, table cloth, butter
dish, tea pot.
Rhonda thanked the folks for
their beautiful gifts and for coming
to the party. Mrs. Don Ross
accompanied on the piano and all
sang For She is a Jolly Good
Fellow, The sponsors then served
lunch.
Last week showers were held at
the home of Mrs. M. Gibson and
Mrs. fvfacIntyre and Mrs. Sivanson
for bride-to-be Miss Rhonda Gib-
son. Among the many gifts
received were flannelette blankets,
quilts, cannister set, stainless steel
sibierware set, bathroom set,
tupperware, 3 thermal blankets,
electric kettle, set of dishes.
Mr. and Mrs. Elmer King of
Blyth were Saturday visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Schultz.
Weather-wise this week we
again experienced the unusual.
Thursday we had the ice storm with
many school cancillations. On
Friday night we received snow and
it really made visibility nil with'
high winds. The result was
numerous accidents.
Mrs. Kay and Mrs. Baswick and
family were at Knox College
Toronto on Thursday to meet their
student preacher husbands.
Some this week have been laid
up with a dose of flu. We wish
them a speedy recovery.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell McGuire
returned home on Monday after-
noon from holidaying at Fort
Lauderdale and Lakeland, Florida.
While in Fort Lauderdale, they
visited at the lovely winter home of
Mr. and Mrs. Omar Brooks of
Lucknow.
The World Day of Prayer will be
held in Whitechurch United Church
Friday, March 4 at 2 p.m. All
ladies of the community are

invited.
Weekend visitors with Mr. and
Mrs: Bill Rintoul were Mr. and
Mrs. Harry Gutoskie, Michelle and
Michael of Waterloo, and Mr. and
Mrs. Gordon Campbell of Listowel.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Moss of
Plattsville spent the weekend with
Mrs. Ben McClenaghan and Mr.
and Mrs. Carl McClenaghan.
We welcome home Mt. and Mrs.
George Webster after a visit with
their daughter Mrs. Don Vincent
and Mr. Vincent of New Bruns-
wick.
