This meeting had 'been postponed twice due to' ,stormy weather. Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Conley and family were recent visitors with Mr. and Mrs, Graham Moffat and Marilyn. Langside church was postponed on Sunday because of icy roads. GueSts at this meeting included two members from the Goderich Lions club, Lion Bill Chisholm and Lion Ken Alcock. Various committee chairmen gave reports of activities. Lion Harry Coiling reported that there would be a new jackpot at the next Lions bi-weekly bingo. Lion Rod MacDonald gave a favourable report on the club's participation in, the Zone 3-N Radio Bingo. Lion Ron Nicholson announced that Ladies Night would be held on June 25. Lion • Frank VanKooten reported that good progress had been made on the Township Hall redecorating. Lion president Bob Fair stated that information had been received for the upcoming April District A-9 convention. This is to be held in Owen Sound. It was agreed to make donations to the Playground for Mentally Retarded and to the Ripley Figure Skating Club. Lion Jim MacTavish was called on• to present Lion Bill To Serve Businessmen In This Area The Federal Business Develop- ment Bank, a Crown Corporation promotes •and assists the growth and creation of ,Canadian Business Enterprises, particularly those of smaller size. Specifically, the Bank provides direct financial assistance (term loans), management counsel- ling, training, and information on government programs available to Canadian Business. „ Wayne Rounding, an experienc- ed Development Banker, with several years business banking experience, has been assigned the responsibility of servicing the requirements of businessmen in the Goderich/Lucknow zone. While Wayne will be operating out of the Stratford Branch office, which services the Counties of Perth and Huron, he will be in his assigned area several times monthly to conduct follow-up feasibility as- sessments and to respond to referrals from local financial insti- tutions, realtors, and chartered accountants on behalf of their clients. In addition, he also "sets up shop" at the Bedford Hotel, Goderich on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, for the purpose of conducting confidential interviews with local businessmen directly. The actual dates of his visits are pre-advertised in the Lucknow Sentinel monthly. AMBERLEY . Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. Campbell of Amberley hosted the Pine River-Bethel Young Peoples Soci- ety in their home on Sunday evening. The discussion was on drugs and the effects on families. These meetings are held every two weeks in different homes. Vacationing in Hawaii is Mrs. Lillian Brown of Point Clark. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kelly and family • of Kitchener were Sunday guests of 'Mr. and Mrs. Perrin Lowry of Lurgan. Away for a couple of weeks are Dennis Courtney and Elliott Lowry, flying to the Barbados and then taking a Carribbean Cruise. Several people from • this area attended the relative shower for Miss Rhonda Gibson on Saturday evening at the home of her cousin Mrs. Donald Macitntyre, Visiting at their parent's home at Amberley were Mr. and Mrs. David Thompson and daughters Alison and Amberley of Guelph and Judy Cooper of Kitchener. Chisholm • with a boi-rowed life preserver. The Chinese Auction was won by Lion Bob Scott. The next meeting will' be held on Wednesday, March 9 at the Ripley Legion Hall. LANGSIDE King winter seems to be giving us everything weatherwise this winter. Last week we had rain and freezing rain which made roads treacherous and gave school child- ren a holiday Thursday. Sunday we had more freezing rain with snow later in the day. The temperatures have been higher which is some help. With February , almost over we wondel what March will bring us weatherwise. Murray Moffat is a patient in University Hospital, London, with a broken ankle and a broken arm. On Tuesday Murray, who is an electrician, was installing a dusk to dawn light when his belt broke and he fell to the ground. He was taken to Wingham •Hospital and later to London.
