SOIL TESTS The number of soil analysis results that indicate no potash is required, is increasing on livestock farms. Most soils in Bruce County are naturally high in potash and this, combined with many years of applying excess potash for, crop needs, plus, heavy applications of marline, have built up extremely high potash levels. For example, soil test values for, potash over 109 do not indicate additional potash is required for barley. There are soils in Bruce testing over 300. There is some indication that excess potash may have toxic effects by tying up other nutrients. It is time to use up some of this excess potash for more than economic reasons. M. R. BOLTON, Ag. Rep. 044444414"%%44441444•4%.444414444 THE MAN TO SEE IS . . . sINTEE PIA OP COST OF LIVING IT UP The manufacturer of whisky put his grain through a distillery called a still and it cones out as fire-water. The consumer pays $6 to $8 a quart for it. If he drinks ata bar, he pays $1.25 a drink, puts his glass on the bar, and says "Gimme another". The farmer puts his grain through a distillery called a cow, and the consumer pays 58 to 65 cents a quirt for the, product. That is about 15 cents a cup. He takes a drink, sets his glass on the table, and says "Go easy on the milk, folks, the price is way up".
