He was born in Huron Township, a son of Thomas Mason and Caraline Hodgins. He is survived by his wife, the former. Gladys Colwell of Kinlough; one daughter Reta, Mrs. Roy Webster of London and one son Jack of Vanderhoof, British Col- umbia; nine grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one broth- er Donald of Kincardine. The late Mr. Mason was raised in Greenoch Township by an aunt and uncle after the death of his mother. He later farmed for a number of years in Huron Town- ship before moving to Ripley in 1966. The funeral service was held at he McLennan-McCreath Funeral -tome, Ripley, on Thursday, Feb— uary 17 with interment in Ripley :emetery. The service was onducted by the Rev. James lushell. The future and the past have a )t in common with the present. Robert T. A. Marshall of Northern Ireland. Mrs. Marshall was a medical' doctor. Rev. J. R. MacDonald, minister of Ashfield and Ripley Presbyterian Churches for more than seven years, received a call to the Presbyterian Church at Roseville, Michigan. A lemon tree at Solomon's Greenhouse produced a mammoth speciman that measured 15 inches by 17 inches and, weighed 13/4 lbs. This 27 year old "tree" had three crops a year with as many as nine lemons per crop. Students of Lucknow District High School received their first injection of Salk vaccine for prevention of poliomyelitis with the second innoculation slated for March. 40 YEARS AGO FEBRUARY 1937 Rural hydro service in the surrounding community was under consideration and creating wide interest. Mrs. David Girvin of Dungannon observed her 95th birthday. The months January and Febru- ary, 1937, were marked by a complete absence of snow. Not only had the ground been continually bear, but the temperature was exceedingly moderate and numer- ous days very springlike. A school report of S. S. Jr. Pr. - Harold Hyde. C. R. Miller, Teacher. Former Culross Man Died At Barrie WILLIAM, BOYLE FALCONER William Boyle Falconer passed way January 30th at Royal Victoria Hospital, Barrie, Ontario. William, was porn in Culross Township, September 26th, 1888, the eldest son of the late Mr: and Mrs. George Thomas Falconer, concession 2, Culross and Teeswat j, er. In the year 1918 he married Ethel Churchill of Bluevale and farmed on concession 4 Culross for 2 years, then bought a farm near Bluevale, moving there in 1920. His wife predeceased him in July 1970. Mr. Falconer is survived by one son Ernest; his wife Margaret; one granddaughter Cheryl, and her husband David Kohutt and one great granddaughter Chrissie Ko- hutt of Sarnia; two brothers Calvert of Blyth and George E. of Vernon, B.C. He was predeceased by four brothers, Daniel, John, Allie •and Lester. Mr. Falconer moved to 35 Blake Street, Barrie to live with his son and wife in 1971 until his passing away. He was of a quiet disposition and will be missed by his relatives and many friends he made through the years; he was a good neighbour, real true friend to all and willing to help anyone when needed. Mr. Falconer rested at Steckly's Funeral Mime, Barrie until Thurs- day, then to the Walker Funeral Home, Wingham and Friday noon to Wingham Jehovah's Kingdom Hall where the • casket remained open until time of service at 2 p.m. Speaker for the service was Mr. Montgomery from Barrie: Prayers were given by Herb Morency, Detroit, Michigan and Mr. Fischer, Wingham. Pallbearers were Garry C. Fal- coner of Teeswater, Lencon Martin of Bluevale, Don Fischer of Wingham, R. Brodie of Goderich, Dave Moore of Wingham and John Schieb of Wingham. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Clarke, Mr. and Mrs. Barry Johnston and Mr. and. Mrs. Harold Smith attended the Good Roads Conven- tion at Toronto on the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Mac- Leod visited with Mr. and Mrs., Fraser MacKinnon on the week- end. Mr. and Mrs. Ira Dickie returned home after holidaying in Florida.
