Happy. Hearts ,
Meet At Ripley
Gay Valentine decorations and
flower arrangements made the
Legion Hall a pleasant setting for
the February meeting of the Happy
Hearts Club. They were the work
of Violet MacKenzie and Elizabeth
Fair. The prograM committee,
consisting of Elizabeth Fair, Gladys
Huston and Ann Mason presented
a lovely program with Mrs. Fair
acting as convener. Reg. Moore is
on a holiday to Florida, so Mrs.
Florence Kirkpatrick ably took his
place as song leader with Violet
MacKenzie as pianist. Anne
McCosh gave some readings, Effie
Sutherland and Florence Kirkpat-
rick sang duets, and contests were
conducted by Ann Mason and
Gladys Huston. One contest was
won by two newcomers - Dorothy
Wardell and Bertha Tout. The
highlight of the program was a
slide presentation by Reg and
Frances Godfrey. They were
especially interesting since they
were of local scenes, the June bus
trip, and a trip to Lake Superior and
Agawa Canyon. Several members
had taken advantage of these trips.
The program closed with a fitting
poem on Love read by Gladys
Huston.
The business portion of the
meeting was conducted by Gladys
Arnold, assisted by , the secretary
for the day - Katie Irwin. Pearl
Hewitt, who has been hospitalized
in recent months, sent best wishes.
Several new members were wel-
comed. An In Memoriam Book is
being purchased. The High School
Cheerleaders have invited mem-
bers to a luncheon during March
School break. Everyone enjoyed it
last year and were happy to accept
the invitation.
There will be an open meeting
for all interested in future use of
the abandoned cemetery on conces-
sion 6. Just waiting on improved
weather.

information on the Munn family.

Evelyn Irwin, Jack Blue, Jean
Hunter and Katie Irwin with help
from a few willing workers.
A nice letter had been received
from Mrs. Evelyn Hussey saying
how much the residents of Brucelea
Haven had enjoyed the Birthday
Party and program presented by
the Happy Hearts on January 25th.

A Koffee Katch was the begining
of the March meeting of the Silver
Lake W.I. which met at Mrs.

with all present taking part in
providing a delicious meal.
For the meeting a very interest-
ing demonstration on Quilting as to
colours, assembling blocks and
quilting hints was by Mrs. Russell
McConnell of Armow W.I. who is a
leader on the present senior course
of the W.I. Mrs. McConnell also
displayed a variety of quilted
articles which she and the other

made. Those present were quite
enthused and gained many new
ideas for quilting on various
articles which was quite new to
them.
The secretary Mrs. Ellison
Hodgins read the Prov. •Pres.
yearly letter, who is Mrs. Herb
Maluske of Chesley. Roll call was
answered with "The recipe of the
