Party At Pinecrest
Huron Chapter O.E.S. #89
Wingham held a social evening at
Pinecrest Nursing Home in Luck-
now on Monday, February 14. The
guests were welcomed by the'
Worthy Matron Mrs. Pearl Bell.
She also thanked Mr. and Mrs.
Newbold for opening their. Home
for the evening. Mrs. Florence
Reavie was the convener for the
evening.
A sing song was led by Mrs.
Harvey Webster. Twelve tables of
euchre and 4 tables of bridge were
played. The euchre prizes were
won by, high lady, Mrs. Ellen
Cardiss; high man, °Jim Carr; lady
playing as a man, Mrs. Mae
Hunter. The bridge prizes were
won by high lady, Mrs. Jean
Whitby; high man, Alf Herbert.
The lucky draws went to Mrs. Sam
Stanley, Orland Richards, Mrs.
Mel Welwood, and Mrs. Ross
Cumming.
The Chapter was thanked by
Aubrey Higgins, a resident at
Pinecrest, and a delicious lunch
which had been convened by Mrs.
Jack MacDonald, was served to
bring the enjoyable evening to a
close.

Tobogganing
Party
On Tuesday, February 8 the
Lucknow Brownies held a tobogan-
ning party after which the girls
enjoyed a supper of spaghetti and
donuts provided by Brown Owl
Mrs. Harold Nicholson.
On Tuesday, February 15 the
Brownies held a regular meeting.
Fairy Queen was Josie den Boer.
Heather Maclntyre passed one of
her Golden Hand tests, running an
errand. Brushing and combing her
hair was passed by Julie Nicholson.
Lisa Barger passed her skipping
test. Keeping your room tidy for
two weeks was passed by Cathy
Hamilton. The Golden Bar girls
practised group ball games. The
Golden Hand girls practised knit-
ting. Brownie Ring was held
followed by a short Pow Wow. The
meeting closed with the squeeze.
Lack of opportunity is the
stock excuse to cover laziness.
The world accepts the rule of
gold rather than the golden rule.

Mrs. Robert HoWard was a
patient in the Alexandra Marine
and General Hospital, Goderich
from Tuesday, February 8th :,until
Wednesday; February 16th.
Vincent Austin, a patient in the
University Hospital, London for the
past 11 days was able to return to
home here on Friday, February
18th.
Reverend Father Ed Dentinger,
C.R. pastor of St. Joseph's Church
at Kingsbridge arid Reverend
Father Clarence Hauser, C.R. of
Kitchener returned on Thursday,
February 17th from a three week
vacation in Florida.
Joe Austin, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Austin was a winner of $25.00
in the Wintario draw held on
Thursday, February 17th.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
Mr. David Zyluk, principal of St.
Joseph's Schoo1, Kingsbridge and
the first, second and third place
winners in the Public Speaking
Competitions held at St. Joseph's
School, Kingsbridge on Friday,
February 11th attended the Ontario
English Catholic Teachers' Assoc-
iation , Zone 1 Public Speaking
Competitions held at St. Mary's
School in Goderich on Thursday,
February 17th beginning at 10 a.m.
Speakers taking part from Kings-
bridge in the Intermediate division
were Rose Marie O'Keefe, speak-
ing on "Guiness Book of Records"
and Dean Doherty speaking on
"My School Trip to Niagara Falls".
Speakers in the Junior Division
from Kingsbridge were Heather
Ann Stapleton speaking on "The
Zoo and Lisa Frayne speaking on
"Camping". Intermediate winners
were Mike Murphy and Margaret
Conlon, both students at St. Mary's
School, Goderich with honourable
mention going to Susan Wilhelm a
student at the Sacred Heart School,
Wingham. Winners in the Junior
Division were Mary Margaret
Murphy, a student' at St. Mary's
School, Goderich and Anne Kerna-
ghan, a student of The Sacred
Heart School in Wingham, with
honourable mention going to ,
Heather Ann Stapleton, a student
at St. Joseph's School, Kings-.
bridge. Congratulations. The
winners will now advance to the
Huron-Perth finals to be held in
Dublin on Tuesday, February 22 at
7 p.m.'
Rural Grade Eight students and
their parents attended a "Grade
Eight Night" held at the Goderich
District Collegiate Institute on
Wednesday, February 16th. Infor-
mation was given concerning Year
1 courses to be offered in
1977-1978.
The Kingsbridge Youth Club
held a toboggan party on Sunday
afternoon, February 20th.
Jim Hunter, Ashfield Township
Road Superintendent, and council-
lor John Austin attended the Good

Allan Gibson and Grant Farrish
were named to the Lucknow Arena
Board, Warren Zinn to the
Lucknow Medical Centre and the
Huron County Safety Committee.
Application was made for the
final payment of the 1976 grant on
road expenditures.
Council will meet again Tuesday,
March 1st at 1.30 p.m.

St. Joseph's Roman Catholic
Church, Kingsbridge, with candel-
abra and poinsettia„ was the scene
December 18 for the wedding of
Mildred Jacqueline Vega and
Raymond Edwin Hogan. The bride
is the daughter of Mr.. and Mrs.
Angel Vega of Quito, Ecuador, the
groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Howard and the late Louis
Hogan of R. 7 Lucknow. Rev.
Father Ed Dentinger C.R. perform-
ed the ceremony. Organist and
soloist was Marianne Frayne.
Given in marriage by her father,
the bride wore a floor-length gown,
with train of white crystallette, with
high lace collar, and insets of lace
accented with seed pearls. Her
Roads Convention held at the Royal
York Hotel in Toronto on Monday
and Tuesday, February 21 and 22.
Mr. and Mrs. Jim Sinnett and
Tim O'Brien are spending this
week in Alpena, Michigan. Mr.
and Mrs. Art Bowler and family of
Stratford are vacationing .at the
Sinnett residence.
Mr. and Mrs. John Dietrich and
daughter Marie, Miss Ann Marie
Dalton and Bruce Pritchard, all
from Mississauga. were weekend
visitors with Mrs. Clarice Dalton
and family.
On Saturday, February 26th, the
Senior Basketball Tournament will
be held at Exeter from 9 a.m. until
4 p.m. The games will be played at
the South Huron District High
School.

HACKETT - Lorne and Hazel
Hackett are pleased to announce
the safe arrival of their son,
Malcolm William, born Wednes-
day, February 9, 1977 at ' the
Wingham District Hospital. A wee
brother for Greg, Brian and
Brenda.
Juliet cap and waist-length veil of
French illusion featured matching
lace and pearls. Red roses and
white carnations and shasta daisies
former her bouquet.
The maid of horibur was the
groom's sister, Leona Hogan 'of
Stratford. She wore a vest and
floor length skirt of red velvet, with
long sleeves bow-blouse of white
polyester. Bridesmaids were
Janette Hogan of Guelph, sister of
the groom, and Anne Van Diepen-
beek, friend of the bride. They
were dressed similarly to the maid
of honour in green velvet. They
carried bouquets of red and white
carnations and shasta daisies.
The groom and attendants wore
black tuxedos. Francis Hogan was
his brother's best man. Ushers
were Lawrence Hogan, brother of
the groom and Ronald Hogan of
Southampton, the groom's cousin.
During the Wedding Mass,
readings were given by Kathleen
and , Anita Hogan of Calgary, who
also, along with Stephen and
Gerard Howard presented the
Offertory Gifts.
A dinner and reception followed
at the Lucknow Legion Hall,
decorated with poinsettia and cedar
boughs. A three tiered wedding
cake, candles and brandy snifters
with holly provided the table
decorations. The master of
ceremonies was Eugene Frayne.
Receiving guests, the groom's
mother wore a floor-length gown of
green flowered polyester jersey,
with corsage of white carnations.
Guests were present from Quito,
Ecuador, Calgary, Jackson, De-
troit, Aurora, Willowdale, Guelph,
Stratford, London, Dresden, Wat-
erdown, Mildmay, Wingham. and
Southampton.
The bride wore a navy and
white suit and a corsage of red
canations for travelling. Mr. and
Mrs. Hogan spent a three week
honeymoon /in Ecuador and have
taken up residence on the groom's
farm at R. R. 3 Lucknow.
