We think the world of our dog,
that's why we want it home.
I could go on, but it wouldn't
help unless, something is done. I
hope other people write the .paper
or go to the council meetings and
find out what we can do to solve
this before a lot of greenery turns
yellow, grass discolours, gardens
and flowers are uprooted, and a lot
of children's pets get killed.
Remember I'm not blaming the
dogs, it's the owner's fault, and it's
their co-operation we need to
clean up this situation.

Alice Den Boer.

Praises Work
Of Snow Crew
February 10, 1977
Dear Sir:
This letter was written in the
hopes that it will be published,
because it is time that public
appreciation of the West Wawa-
nosh snow removal crew is
announced.
Twelve to twenty-two‘,honr days
are not uncommon (and they do not
get paid overtime like any other
employee); the trips back and forth

always seems to break down in the
middle of a storm; their willingness
to help anyone in need (no matter
what the hour); and the havoc that
all these selfless duties play on
their families; has not gone
unnoticed. Though some com-

wish to let the crew know that we
believe West Wawanosh roads are
the best around.
This letter was written to let the
guys and everyone else know that

LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Owner Problem,
Not Dog Problem
Editor,
Lucknow Sentinel.
After having such lovely weather
this past week and now, our
thoughts sometimes turned to
spring. Flowers and gardens are
always a nice thought as we
seemingly develop a spring fever.
We look out at the still white
ground, and think of grass and our
green shrubs.
Then we see foot prints of
animals in the snow and start to
wonder if our effort is going to be a
fruitless one.
Yes, I mean the dog situation.
We wonder if we should fence in
our gardens, put fencing around
our flowers and shrubs. But ,then
we realize all we will see eventually
is fences, and more fences. Putting
up signs saying Keep Off Grass
doesn't help the dog any, as they
can not read. So what to do?
Well first off, I find we have no
dog catcher on a full or part time
basis. If we do not have enough
money to solve this problem,
maybe we will have to increase fees
for owners to retrieve their pets.
Charge $50.00 for a first time,
increase it by that same amount
every time thereafter. That way it
would not need to be passed on to
the taxpayers.
Secondly, how far does the
village allow us to go when a stray
animal comes on our property.
We're not allowed to shoot within
town limits. Can we then get one of
the store owners to bring in a large
supply of stun guns? Stun the
animal, take him past town limits,
then shoot him. Should we chase
him into the path of an unexpected
car driver and cross 'our fingers.
Can we put .a net over him and hit it
over the head with an axe?
Now you're probably thinking I
don't own a dog, but I do.
Our dog is usually in the house.
The only times it goes out is when
we take it for walks, or when nature
