The regular meeting of St.
Helens Women's Institute was held
in the hall on January 6th, 1977 at 2
p.m.
The president Mrs. Peter Chand-
ler welcomed everyone and the
meeting opened with the Opening
Ode and the Institute Grace,
followed by a delicious dessert
lunch Of Angel Food Raspberry
Parfait served by Mrs. Ross
Gammie and Mrs. Gordon Struth-
ers.
The meeting resumed with the
Mary Stewart Collect in unison.
The roll call, "A resolution that
could be kept daily", was answered
by 15 members and 1 visitor.
itvIrs. Ross Gammie presided for
the program. A sing song
consisted of "Let there be peace on
earth" and "It's a small world". A
reading "The Joy of Cooking on the
Farm", was given by Mrs. Gordon
Struthers. Mrs. Otto Weber read,
"Facing the New Year", and "The
New Calendar". ""Old Friends"
and "Another Year" Were read by
Mrs. Harold Gaunt. Information
hints, jokes and "How to have a
happy 1977" were given by Mrs.
Ross Gammie.
The minutes of the December
meeting were read and approved.
Mrs. James Aitchison gave the
treasurer's report and Mrs. Gordon
Struthers gave the assistant treas-
urer's report. The correspondence
was read.
Mrs. James Aitchison and Mrs.
Ross Errington are to attend 4-H
training school in February for the
spring project "Clothes for Leis-
ute". A donation is to be sent to
the Heart Fund. This Institute will
cater to 'the Co-op banquet 'on
January 25th.
The motto, "Look before you
leap, but do not be afraid to leap,
after you have looked" was prepar-
ed by Mrs. Allan Cranston and
read by Mrs. Ross Errington. The
topic "Desire to Possess a Diam-
ond" was given by Mrs. Tom Todd.
Mrs. Robert Aitchison gave
Current Events.
Christine Conley and Bev Aitchi-
son took up the collection. The
meeting closed with 0 Canada.
