Intended for last week.
In spite of much snow and wind,
folks in this area were able to
entertain and visit during the
holiday season.
On December 18, Mr. and Mrs.
Burton Collins held the "Collins
Christmas" for Mr. and Mrs.
Jerome Schmidt of Mildmay,,, Mr.
and Mrs. John Schmidt of Water-
kV, Mr. and Mrs.Glen Young,
Vicki and 'David of Kinloss; Mr:
and Mrs. Ed McGillivray and Kelly
of Goderich, and Mr. and Mrs.
David Lockheed of Ripley. John
Collins of Waterloo University
spent the holidays with his parents.
On Christmas John, Margie and
David and Sandra and Ed and Kelly
were with Burt and Kay.
Wishes for a speedy recovery are
extended. to Ada Gawley, who is in
Kincardine Hospital* and Walter
Forster and John McKay in
London, also Gordon Patterson,
who is recovering from an opera-
tion. Don Forster is helping with
the Patterson chores until Gordon
is on his feet again.
Jamie Forster of Edmonton
visited his parents, Walter and
Isobel Forster during the holidays.
Deepest sympathy is extended to
the Lane family on the passing of
Stuart's .father before Christmas. •
Christmas dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. George Emerson and Bob
were Geraldine, Frank and Joe
Emerson and . Jim and Francis,
Frankie and Susan. The same
group celebrated New Years at the
Jim Emerson home.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Robertson
were dinner guests on Christmas of
Mrs. J. C. McNab of Lucknow and
New Years guests of Martha
Huston in Ripley.
Seems Santa left a bit more than
gifts in this area as some folks were
bitten by a flu bug while some of
the little people got chicken pox.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Kurt are
spending the winter in Gordon's
brother's house in Kitchener.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Green of
Arthur and Earl and Susan of
Kincardine and daughter Saman-
tha were New Years guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Roy Collins and family.
Christmas guests of Maureen and
Roy were Russell and Dorothy
Collins, Walter Collins, Art, Ann,
Lisa and Randy Collins.
Bryan Boyle and Miss Janet
Lackner spent Christmas holidays
with Mr. and Mrs. Frances Boyle
and family. Miss Kerry Boyle was
also home from Hamilton. Other
guests of the Boyles were Donna "
Witty, Rich Henry and Rick Reynen
of Guelph.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Chadbourne
of Kincardine held Christmas for
the Gawley family and Sunday
dinner guests, January 2, of Mr.
and Mrs. Victor Gawley were
Marlene and De Wayne Grieg,
Velma and Don Chadbourne and
Tracy of Kincardine. Gladys and ,
Barry Johnston and Linden of
Holyrood, and Ethel and Lettie
Gawley of Ripley.
A birthday dinner was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Frances
Boyle and family last Wednesday
in honour of Marj Armstrong.
Those attending besides Marj and
Aurel were Dale and Pam Arm-
strong, and Lynn and Mary
Armstrong.
On Wednesday, December 29th,
a wedding anniversary dinner was
held at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Don McCosh. Guests of honour
were Nancy and Paul Greenwood.
Other guests were Jean-Paul
Greenwood, Steve and Jan Elliott
and Lea, John and Joyce Farrell
and Teresa, Earl and June Elliott
and Ian, Cecil and Wilma Sutton,
Rodney and Tammy.
Mrs. George King spent a few
days at Christmas with Cecil and
Wilma Sutton and family. The
Suttons were dinner guests on
Christmas Day of Mr. and Mrs.
Wib Hodgins of Wingham.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed McGillivray
and Kelly held New. Years dinner at
their 'home in Goderich for the
Collins family.
Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Patterson,
Billy and David were dinner guests
last Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Burton
Collins.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott held a
Christmas breakfast for their
family. Those attending were Mr.
and Mrs. John Farrell and Teresa,
Mr. and Mrs. Steve Elliott and Lea,
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Greenwood and
John Paul and Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Elliott of Kincardine.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson
visited one day last week with Mr.
and Mrs. Don Miller and family of
Kincardine.
The Boyle family celebrated New
Years Day at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Cecil Sutton and family.
Mrs. Bessie' Farrell of Kincard-
ine was' hostess to Mr. and Mrs.
Francis Boyle and family on
Sunday.
Ian Elliott of Windsor spent the
week with John and Joyce Farrell
and Teresa while his parents
returned to Windsor.
Dinner guests on Christmas of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Dore and Frank
were Mrs. William Wood and
David of Durham, Misses Cathy
and Vicki Dore of Kincardine and
Constable Jim 'Dore of Wingham.
Jim and ViCki were home with their
parents for a few days' at New
Years. Other visitors with the
Dores were Dave and Margie
Lockheed and Walter Collins.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Elliott visited
on Satuiday with Mr. and Mrs.
Francis Boyle.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Colwell of B.C.
spent a few days in this area
visiting relatives. Also visiting
with the Colwells was Ruth Colwell
of Toronto.
Christmag Eve dinner guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thompson,
Wray and Don were Mrs. Claude
Dore of Bervie, Miss Meryl Stewart
of Lucknow, Bob and Judy Thomp-
son, Robbie and Todd, Randy and
Joan McDonald, Tammy and Kim,
and Misses Margaret Sache and
Sharon Young. The Thompson
family also gathered at the home of
Harvie and Wilda for New Years
Day dinner.
Christmas Day dinner guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Thompson and
boys were Mr. and Mrs.' Harvie
Thompson and Wray and Mrs.
Claude Dore.
On December 30th Don Thomp-
son and Margaret Sache attended
the wedding of Margaret's father
in Toronto.
A new Years Eve party was held
in the Community Centre for those
in this area who wished to attend.
Many of the neighbours gathered
for a visit and to dance. Lunch was
served later and the music was
supplied by Don Thompson's
stereo system.
Here are a few comments heard
on the drifting snow a week ago.
--driving to town and meeting the
snow coming this way, then coming
back and meeting the same snow
going back again.
--I think there must be an energy
shortage up there too when we
have to use the same snow over and
over.
--I really do believe in re-cycling
things but re-cycled snow is
ridiculous.
