MOP TWENTY.TWO
farewell Party For Jack Ackerts
McCARTHY'S ALL STAR TOURS
THE LUCKNOW SENTINEL, LUCKNOW, ONTARIO
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 5, 1977
Holyrood Hall was filled to
capacity on Monday, December
20th for a Farewell Party for Jack
and Betty Ackert and family.
Friends and relatives gathered
for an evening of dancing with
music by Elliott Carruthers and
Clifford Emmerton.
During the evening Harold Smith
called Jack and Betty to the front of
the hall and he and Donald Murray
made the presentation of a
well-filled purse of money with
cards of good wishes. Jack made, a
fitting reply.
Lunch and a social time was
enjoyed to conclude a pleasant
evening together.
Jack and Betty have resided at
Holyrood until. a short time ago
when they moved to Kincardine,
where they have built a new home.
The following is the address.
Holyrood, Ontario,
December 20,1976.
Dear Jack, Betty and family
We met tonight with mixed
feelings,
As you are sure we would
When'we heard that you had sold
And were, leaving Holyrood,
To retire and make your new home
On the edge of old Lake Huron
You always were the best of
neighbours '
When working at your pottery or
Just your daily labours.
. Your home was one where we loved
to go,
And where, a welcome would wait
us we'd always know.
Your lads are grown as all boys
should,
And you'll all be missed at
Holyrood.
For the name Ackert has been here
many years,
And still will be, there are no fears.
Each of us here will be missing You
all,
And that's why we've gathered to
night at the hall,
To spend a social time with you
And wish you the best that each
days sends
It isn't easy to say farewell
To such wonderful and loyal
friends.
We ask you to accept this gift as
A token of our esteem for you.
Signed on behalf of
Friends and Neighbours.
