The December meeting of St..
Peter's Anglican Church Women
was held in the Parish Hall. The
president Mrs. Harold Cooper
presided and opened the meeting
with prayer.
Roll call was answered by a Bite
verse found in answer to questions
asked the previous meeting. Cards
and gifts of money were to be sent
to shut ins and others. A wedding
and an anniversary are to be
catered to in early January.
Mrs. Harvey Mole took charge of
the worship period. She read a
short item "Bless Ye the Lord".
Mrs. Stanley Cooper read "Keep
Advent Well". We need silence in
which to meditate and prepare
ourselves. We' should set aside at '
least 5 minutes to pray and listen.
Mrs. Cliff Roulston read a paper
"Fulfillment". Mrs. Mole read the
scripture "The Prodigal Son" and
gave the meditation, Peace begins
in our own souls and radiates to
others.
Mrs. Tom Phillips read "The
Christmas Story" followed by
prayer by Mrs. Mole. Mrs. Ernest
Gaunt gave a reading "Christmas
Customs in Canada". Mrs. Mole
conducted two- contests.' Mrs.
Verna Elphick won the first one and
Mrs. Ernest Gaunt the second.
Lunch, a social time and exchange
of gifts followed.

WHITECHURCH NEWS -
Chalmer's Women's Missionary
Society held their December 'meet-
ing Wednesday 15th at 2 p.m. at
the home of Mrs. Victor" Emerson:
Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw presided for
the meeting and gave the call to
worship. Away in a manger was
sung with Mrs. kndrew Gaunt
pianist. Mrs. Gordon Rintoul led in
prayer. John 1: 1-12 was read by
Mrs. Dawson Craig.
Miss Annie Laidlaw gave the
meditation and concluded with
prayer. The offering was dedicated
by Mrs. Andrew Gaunt.
The topic "Christmas'.' was
given by Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw.
Christmas is a merry time of faith,
of music, songs, carols, of sharing,
of love, greeting friends, hope,
inspiration and spirit of goodwill.
What does Christmas mean to us?
a time to renew' our faith, and a time
to come to Him and renew our
source of right and wrong and to
learn there is more happiness in
giving than receiving.
Mrs. John de Boer, president,
presided for the business. She
thanked the ladies for attending,
Mrs. Elroy Laidlaw for preparing
the meeting and those assisting.
Mrs. Gordon Rintoul called the roll
answered by 14 naming a Christ-
mas Carol. Some gave an
explanation of the carol.
A thank you note was read from
Mrs. Hunter (Mewhinney) for
wedding gift given. A donation was
given to Mrs. Andrew.Gaunt to buy
a gift for a lady at Pinecrest Home
who has no relatives. Mrs. Wesley
Tiffin invited the group to her home
for January meeting. Mrs. Andrew
Gaunt taught us a theme song.
Mrs. Don Ross had the box, of
books for all to see. It was decided
to pay fees at January meeting.
Hark the herald angels sing was
sung and Mrs. de Boer closed the
meeting with prayer.
The Ladies Aid meeting was
held. The collection was received
and $5 given for cards to be sent to
those who are ill through the year.
The meeting closed with mizpah
benediction.

The December meeting of the
Donnybrook United Church Wom-
en was held 'at the home of Mrs.
Robert Jefferson on Tuesday
evening December 14 with ten
Members in attendance and one
visitor.
Mrs.-- Sam Thompson opened the
meeting with a ChriStmas theme
and hymn 62' was sung. Mrs. H.
Jefferson read the scripture follow-
ed with prayer. Hymn 47 was
followed with a reading Long Way
to Bethlehem by Anne Thompson.
Following hymn 51 Mrs. H.
Jefferson read The Christmas
Story, often told but forever new.
Ellen Thompson gave a piano solo.
Mrs. Sam Thompson read a
reading on "Why do we have
mincemeat at' Christmas". Teresa
Jefferson took up the collection and
the meeting was turned over to the
president for the business.
Mrs. H. Jefferson read a letter
from a former minister's wife, Mrs.
Roberts in the Argentine. Hymn 55
was sung followed with Jingle Bells
and closed with hymn 58 and
prayer.
A dainty lunch followed with
hostesses Mrs. Stuart Chamney
and Mrs. J. Hildebrand assisting
Mrs. R. Jefferson.

their meeting during church serv-
ice , in the Sunday School room.
Eddie de Boer led in prayer. The
roll call was answered with a word
pertaining to the Christmas story.
Kendra Purdon gave a reading-
"In Bethlehem". Mrs. Archie
Purdon gave the story "The
Poinsettii".
Mrs. Hugh Sitripson showed
Christmas pictures from the Ideal
Christmas magazine. The offering
was received and dedicated. Brian
Ross gave the closing prayer. All
were presented with a Christmas
card and a picture taken at their
July picnic at Teeswater. Lunch
was served to the 9 attenders.

The December meeting of Trinity
United Church Women was held at
the home of Mrs. Cook, with an
attendance of 16. The vice
president, 'Mrs. Donald Hackett,
opened the meeting with a few
words of welcome and a verse "A
Christmas Message". All joined in
singing Silent Night, and the
Lord's Prayer was repeated In
unison.
Mrs. Alex Hackett opened the
devotions, the topic was "The Most
Unforgettable Character of All
Times". Star of the East was then
sung. Mrs. Alex Hackett gave the
meditation in four parts.
The first part, "The Three Wise
Men". Mrs. Jack Irwin read the
scripture from Matthew. • The
Christmas carol, Joy to the World
followed. Part 2, "The 'Boy in the
Temple". Mrs. Wm. Andrew read
scripture from Luke. Part 3, '"The
Money Changers". Mrs. Irwin
then read scripture from John.
Mrs. Alex Hackett then finished
the meditation with Part 4,
"Calvary" and .Mrs. Frank Alton
read further scripture from John.
All joined in singing the Old
Rugged Cross.
The roll call was answered with
"A Christmas Thought". Mrs.
Alex Hackett reported that 11
Christmas boxes had been packed.
Mrs. Frank Alton reported that
some of the money was not in for
the cards. The supply committee
reported 'that a bale was 'sent in
November weighing 247 pounds.
One thank you note was read. The
next meeting will he at Mrs. Ken
Alton's. Mrs. Chester Hackett led
in prayer.
Mrs. Blake ,c Alton conducted a
contest on the Christmas Caro
and Mrs. Donald Hackett cl sed
the meeting with a short prayer. A .
dainty lunch was served by the
committee in charge.
