Phone 887-9487 WMS marks Christmas The executive of the Belgrave Branch of the Bible Society wishes to thank the canvassers and the people of the Belgrave area for their generous support in the Fall canvass for funds. The contributions for 1988 amounted to $1,003.02. The Belgrave W.M.S. held their December meeting Monday, No­ vember 28atthehomeofMrs. Ivy Cloakey who presided and opened with a Call to Worship. The carol, “The First Noel” was sung and Mrs. Robena McBurney read Luke 1, verses 26-42. Mrs. Garner Nicholson read a meditation and Mrs. Margaret Siertsema led in prayer. Roll call was answered by a Bible verse on the birth of the Saviour. Mrs. McBurney gave the secre­ tary’s report and the treasurer’s report was given by Mrs. Cloakey. There were 64 sick and shut-in visits recorded. Each lady present read a Christmas story or poem. The carol “While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks By Night’ ’ was sung. Mrs. Siertsema read a poem and the carol “O Little Town of Bethlehem’’ was sung and Mrs. Cloakey closed with prayer. The hostess served lunch and a social time was enjoyed. People Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cousins of Woodstock spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson. On Sunday, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Anderson of Goderich and Mr. and Mrs. Rick Ball, Matthew and Alicia of Hanover, visited with parents Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson. Mrs. William Schreiber of Milton, Mrs. Clara Black of Campbellville visitedfor a couple days this past week with Mrs. Sarah Anderson. A Christmas puppet show was held at the library Saturday after­ noon with 24 children and a number of adults attending. The show was under the direction of Mrs. Ruth Gordon and her helpers Candice Irwin, Lindsay Michie and Margie Gordon. Mr. and Mrs. Clare Van Camp accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Alex Nethery to St. Catharines to visit their daughter Denise Nethery for 2 days last week. They also drove to Niagara Falls to see the Christmas lights.
