LORENZO RAMIREZ We have come once again that time of the year when we start to "Anticipate and expectate” what this Christmas Season will bring. Our main street, the same as in Clinton, Wingham, Goderich, Exe ter, Hensall, Lucan and London are well decked for the season; and stores and malls are "anticipating" for great crowds of shoppers and we shoppers "expect" good bargains and "expect lower prices and good quality merchandise. This feeling of "excitement" or whatever we call it, surges high as Dec. 25 approaches. Our Anticipa tion and Expectation ever increases as the days progress. We teach our Children to "Antici pate" and expect something and we and the commercial system ask them or coax them to write to the ‘ ‘ man in the Red suit” to express their wishes at Christmas. These are our yearly Obituaries HARRY ARTHUR WHITE Harry Arthur White of 155 John StreetEast, Exeter, passed away Thursday, December 1, 1988 at Exeter Villa, Exeter. He was in his 84th year. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Mary Immaculate Church in Chep stow at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. Interment Chepstow Cemetery. Remember, it’s their home too! ceremonial activities. There is noth ing wrong with it except, that often times we have the wrong centre of celebration. We said, it’s Family Time, it’s a children’s time, it’s celebration or party time. Most often if not all the time, Jesus, Christ, son ofGod, sonofman, LordofLords, king of Kings, and center and focus of this great anticipation and expectation is all to well forgotten, if not totally ignored. As the Bible said, "He came into his own home ^and his own people received him not’’ (John 1:11) But to all who received Him, who believed in his home, He gave the power to become children ofGod, who were born, not of blood nor ofthe will of the flesh nor of the will of man but of God (John 1:12-13). Israel as from the Old Testament lesson pointed out had a great expectation and through Isaiah had pointed out the coming Messiah but when He came. They received Him notl Our Lord Jesus Christ in flesh had lived for 33 years and He was not recognized, nor received. He, after resurrection, promised his disciples that He will come again. Again only very few believed and expect or anticipate. But He will come and we know not the day nor the hour. Will we be ready? Anticipate and Expect 1
