Duff's White Gift service held “The Meaning of Christmas” was the theme for the White Gift Service Sunday morning atDuff’s United Church. The Christmas tree and poinset- tias were the background for the Worship Service led by members of the Sunday School. Maxine Houston gave an opening welcome and gave out the coming events. The Board meeting was to be held at the home of Neil andMarie McGavin this Sunday evening. The U.C.W. general meeting will hold their Christmas meeting this Wed­ nesday evening at the church Walton Compiled by Mrs. Betty McCall. Phone 887-6677 Walton people Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Sanders, Royal Oak, Michigan spent a few days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Allan Searle and visited other relatives in the area. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson Marks and Mrs. Viola Traviss visited with Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Marks, Exeter. Miss Ruthie Thamer, Kitchener spent the weekend at the home of her mother, Ruth Thamer, following knee surgery in London recently. All her friends around here wish her a successful recovery. Mr. and Mrs. Karl McNaughton of Lucan have purchased the Walton Inn. They will be doing extensive renovations this winter and plan to open for business in the spring. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Hilt, Cam­ bridge, formerly of Brussels are settled in their new home in the village just north of the tracks, having built a large building during the summer where Floyd has a Body Shop that is keeping him quite busy. We welcome all newcomers to our village. starting with a pot luck supper. Next Sunday School Christmas Concert starts at 2 p.m. Six girls, Lori McClure, Barbara Lamble, Shannon Craig, Andrea Gingerich, Cindy McCallum and Sharon Godkin sang an anthem, “We are the Church together’’ with song and action, having the congreg­ ation joining in. Rev. Bonnie Lamble spoke on the second Advent candle saying God helps to keep us pure. Two boys were asked to come forward and light the twocandles, last Sunday, the candle was Hope. White gifts were brought to the front and placed under the tree, then the children went to the basement for the rest of their class studies. The Meaning of Christmas was well presented by Cindy McCallum, Lori McClure, Sharon Godkin, Shan­ non Craig, Andrea Gingerich, Bar­ bara Lamble and Michael Craig with accompanists, Marion Godkin at the piano, Phyllis Mitchell, the violin and Graeme Craig, the guitar. Offering was received by Ian Wilbee and Murray Dennis. Follow­ ing the closing hymn, the Benedic­ tion was given by Lori McClure. The geese have landed by Sarah Rouw and Jennifer Stadelmann During the month of October, students from B.P.S. have been selling Winter Geese articles. These products are from Sunsweet Com­ pany Inc. The articles ranged from serving trays to mugs etc. The profits from this venture go to school projects, bus trips, etc. Our secretary, Mrs. Kolkman, has to tally all the money. The students sold over six thousand dollars. Our top seller was Leanne Bell. If we get all the money in, this project will have been a great success. CAREER CHOICES by Michelle Nesbit and Andrea Henry Once again the Grade Eight students at Blyth Public School have to think about their high school courses, Coincidentally, the Icon compu- tersj.re here again and one of the new programs called ‘‘Choices Junior.” This program helps stu­ dents to think about career choices and explains more fully any careers the students might be interested in. On December 8, Mr. Kopas of F.E. Madill in Wingham will discuss course selections with students who will be attending that school. On the same evening, students who have chosen Clinton High School, are invited to attend a meeting at Hullett Central School. Parents are also invited to this meeting. A SPECIAL INVITATION The Blyth Public School Christ­ mas Concertwill be held at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 15. Anyone who is unable to attend this concert is most welcome to come to our Dress Rehearsalat9:15a.m., Wednesday, December 14 in the school gym.
