Letters Movie called trash THE EDITOR, A couple of weeks ago we, with friends, attended a local theatre showing “The Blue City Slam- mers,” a film made partly in Blyth. We anticipated seeing some Blyth scenes, some familiar faces, and, hopefully an interesting story. We came home feeling badly let down, and a little angry. Besides being very poor entertainment (the story line seemed to disappear completely) it portrayed a village where alcohol and sex were the chief forms of entertainment, folks con nected with church were hypocrits, 11 tables at Blyth euchre There were 11 tables of euchre at Blyth, November 28. Thehigh prizes went to June Jacklin and Alex Nethery. The low prizes to Esther Moffat and Willis Bromley. Ruth Dougherty had the most lone hands for the ladies and Vietta Hoggarth (playingasaman), had mostlone handsforthemen. Special prizes went to Mel Jacklin and Alice Buchanan. There is euchre every Monday night at Memorial Hall at 8 p.m. and the lowest form of gutter language was the only means of communication. We take this oppor tunity of expressing our displeasure at the picture of our village painted by the writers and directors of this presentation, and hope sincerely that our tax dollars are not helping to finance this trash. Some concerned citizens of Blyth. Banks, Government missed chance THE EDITOR, What an excellent opportunity the banks and the Farm Protection Branch missed by not quickly supporting the 4H members who lost money in the stockyards (collapse). It would have been the best advertisement they ever bought. Congratulations to the McCall’s for their support for the 4Her’s. It is nice to know someone still has trust and faith in our farmers of the future and their company is not too big to change the rules or spend some money. What a nice surprise at this time of year.
