Blyth Legion welcomes 7 new members \ \ Blyth Branch420, Royal Canadian Legion decided at its December meeting to donate $200 to the Huron Day Centre for the Homebound. ANGELA NETHERY Angela Nethery graduated from the Executive Secretarial program at Westervelt Business School in Lon­ don at ceremonies held on Novem­ ber 25. The 21-year-old daughter of Alex and Jean Nethery of RR 4, Brussels received an award for the highest overall average in her course. She is presently employed by Royal Homes in Wingham. Zone commander, Steve Ma­ guire, and Deputy Zone Commander John MacDonald welcomed seven new members inducted at the meeting. Presented with their pin and bylaws were Colleen Bell, Lorna Vincent, Al Willie, Donna Walsh, Dianna Willie, Helen Lapp and Debbie Ansley. The winners of the Remembrance Day posters were announced along with the winners in the essay and poetry contests. Jason Elliott, Greg McClinchey and Melissa Kerr were winners in the intermediate poster division. April Bromley, Marie Cronyn and Kimberly Richmond won the.junior division. Essay winners were Rhonda Howatt, Stephanie Lentz and John Ramirez, intermediate, Jennifer Szusz, Andrea Postma and Charlene Hulzebos, junior. Poetry winners were Billy-Jim Scott and Josh Yanchus in the intermediate division and Mike Luna, Abigail Ramirez and Kendra Willie in the Junior division. Legion president John Battye conducted a leadership seminar prior to closing the meeting. The early bird membership draw was won by Anne Marie Hillis. Along with their pins and six emblems the girls also received their Neighbour Badges. Also receiving badges were Mi- Blyth Wl celebrates Christmas The Blyth Women’s Institute met on Thursday, Dec. 1 in Memorial Hall at 6:30 p.m. for a dinner meeting. After dinner Vera Badley and Anne Mclnnes presented their meeting on Education and Cultural activities. Vera Badley read a poem “The Words of Christmas’’. Anne Mclnnes gave a paper on Christmas in other lands, describing the traditions, the foods eaten at Christmas, their religious practices, of twenty-six different countries. The first Christmas tree originat­ ed in Germany. Blyth. People Lost Heir will be played on December 7 at Blyth Hall for the last time this year.
