After the Institute Ode, Mary Stewart Collect and O Canada, Marion Godkin read a poem, “Don’t Quit’’. Elva Bolger was the pianist. Minutes and correspondence were readby Marjory Humphries. Roll call was answered by five cents for every vegetable you like and name a vegetable and how you like to serve it.’’ Ruth Axtmann gave a very detailed report as a delegate to the Guelph Area Convention in Mary­ hill. There had been a quilt top donated by Margaret Craig that has been put together and tied that will be sent to Friendship House in Goderich. The luncheon will be held Wed­ nesday, Dec. 21 with the Christmas meeting at night. The executive and P.R.O. is to meet at Marjory Humphries to make plans on Wednesday, Nov. 30. There is tobe a gift exchange and the roll call - Food items for a needy family. Leona McDonald, convenorfor Agriculture held a quiz and gave a reading followed by an interesting contest, closing with a poem, “Value of a Smile’’. The Institute Grace closed the meeting and lunch was served by Ruth Axtmann and Helen Boven. Food gifts accepted at Duff's Church Sunday morning greeters at Duff’s United Church were Betty McCall and Ron Stevenson. Organ­ ist was Glenda Carter. The 4-H girls serve Auburn Wl The Women’s Institute met at Knox United Church basement on Monday evening, November 14. The convenor’s for the meeting were Jean Plaetzer and Evelyn Merrill. The president Erma Cartwright welcomed the members, 4H girls and mothers and leaders. After saying the 4H grace all members enjoyed the dishes that the 4H girls had prepared and they were all delicious. The hostesses of the Institute served ice cream and cake. Evelyn Merrill had two contests, one being a pie contest and won by Marion Haggitt the other being “Well Known Phrases’’ and it was also won by Marian Haggitt. Evelyn Merrill had a reading entitled “Supermarket’’. Jean Plaetzer and Evelyn Merrill passed out shopping bags to all which each contained a slip and we had to act out, what it said on that slip. The 4H girls and leaders and convenors were thanked by Martha Daer. Tickets were drawn and prizes were given to Eileen McClincbey, Lynn Chamney and Betty Archam­ bault. the 4H girls were called on to entertain. Susan Dobie had a contest and Sheila Rogers gave a musical number. The president Mrs. Cartwright read a poem entitled “The Art of Success". Kay Lapp also thanked the leaders a nd 4H girls and they had looked at all their 4H books and they wee all good. For having the best 4H book Allison Charm ey was present­ ed with a cookbook by Erma Cartwright. The minutes were read bv Kay Lapp and the treasurer’s report given by Erma in the absence of the treasurer Tina Empev. Correspon­ dence was read and dealt with. The card report was given b\ Jean Plaetzer. The meeting closed with -ineing of tl.<> Queen. Official Board meeting for the Pastoral charge is Monday, Nov. 28 at 8 p.m. Donations of non-perishable food items, household goods, clothing etc. are being accepted for Friend ship House till Nov. 27. Sunday Dec. 4 is White Gift Sunday.
