Mrs. Leslie Knight and Mrs. Wilfred Strickler from the Cran­ brook W.I. attended the W.I. Guelph Area Convention held at Maryhill Wednesday and Thursday. The theme was “You ain’t seen nothing yet.” Mr. andMrs. Wilfred Strickler attended the funeral service in Hamilton on Saturday, Nov. 5, for the late Jack Warby. EUCHRE The Canadian Foresters held their second euchre on Friday evening, Nov. 4 in the Community Hall with 11 tables in play. The following were winners: high, Brenda Perrie, Maijorie Metcalfe; low, Harry Jacklin, Ken Crawford; lone hands, Ann Bragg, Lloyd Smith; table draw, Hazel McKen­ zie, John Simpson; tallies, Merle Bowes, Dorothy Hamilton, Stan Hewitt, Jeanne Ireland. This was the last euchre until January. Blyth Lions host ladies The Blyth Lions Club held their annual autumn Ladies Night on Oct. 27. Approximately 60 Lions, ladies and guests were present. Lions Zone Chairman Mel Bogie from the Goderich Lions Club made his official visit. Guest speaker for the evening was Ralph Askew who is associated with the Sunshine Foun­ dation. He showed a video of the Sunshine Foundation’s first airflight of physically handicapped and seri­ ously ill children to Disney World in Florida. One hundred pair of used eye glasses have been sent to District A 9 Sight Conservation chairman Allan Manto. These glasses are tested, repaired and then sent to under developed countries around the world. The Lions Bingo continues every Tuesday evening beginning at 7:30 at the Blyth and District Community Cent! e. There are over $1,000 in cash prizes given away each week. The Lions Christmas Dances will be held at the Blyth and District Community Centre on Dec. 10 and Dec. 17. Groups or individuals wishing reservations or further information can contact Lion Murray Musty. The next meeting of the Blyth .Lions Club is Thursday, Nov. 10 at the Blyth Memorial Hall. Lions District A9 Governor Dick Spruyt from the Grand Valley Lions Club will be making his official visit. Grant for water main The village of Hensail have been informed by the Ministry of the Environment that they are eligible for an 84.29 per cent grant towards the installation of a water main extension for residences along Highway 4.
