Ushers were Brent Rad­ ford, Gerben Wilts, Brent Howatt and Paul Jewitt. The Junior Youth Group (Grades 7/8) will meet Thursday, November 10at8p.m. at Auburn Church for movies. The euchre party and pie social at Hullett Central School is on November 20 from 8 - 10 p.m.: each couple please bring a pie. A Sunday School Carnival will be held Satur­ day, Nov. 19from 7 -9p.m. at Hullett Central School. Remembrance Day will be held next Sunday. The choir sang an anthem “The Family of God". Londesboro had a special joint service with Auburn United for the service. Guest speaker was Rev. Ruth Snider of Hope International Development Agency. She spoke of their 72 projects in Third World countries. After the service a lunch of soup, sandwiches and dessert was served to both congregations. Burns UCW meets The November meeting of Burns U.C.W. was he Id on Wednesday, Nov. 2 at the home of Gay Salverda with 15 members present. Gay Salverda opened the meeting with a reading and hymn 210 was sung. A reading was given by Ida Salverda, “Out of Place" and Flanders Field’ ’ was read by Renee Snell. Readings were given by Ramona Jamieson and Margaret Taylor. Gay thanked all who took part and closed with prayer. Renee Snell conducted the busi­ ness and gave a reading “Prepara- First euchre held The first W.I. euchre of this season was held at the hall on Friday, November 4. There were 11 tables of cards. Winners were as follows: ladies high, Estella Adams; ladies lone hands, Margaret Taylor; ladies low, Helen Lawson; men’s high, Cliff Hoegy, Blyth; men’s lone hands, Rena Watt, Blyth, playing as a man; men’s low, Lome Hunking. The Christmas dinner meet­ ing will be held on December 7. Hazel Reid will make arrangements for the dinner. Members will exchange Christmas gifts. The meeting closed with prayer. People Beth Knox was a guest at Fanshawe College Graduation, Lon­ don on November 4 when her daughter Mrs. Arthur Knight of London received her Human Re­ sources Management Certificate. She is to be congratulated on this achievement. Happy Gang seniors take note the Christmas dinner will beheld at the hall at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29. The price is $8. Explorers make cookies BY LYNDSEY SALVERDA On Thursday, Nov. 3 the Explor­ ers had their third meeting. To start the meeting, the Explor­ er’s song, Explorer Purpose and Explorer Prayer were said. Jennifer Szusz and Carla Stacy said the Explorer Emblem and Andrea Post­ ma said the picture. Linda Horban- uik read a story called “Never give up’’. The members had “Mud Pie cookies’’ with orange and apple juice. Collection totalled $5.65. The craft members did what was called plastic canvas. Members will continue with it next week. The next euchre will be Nov. 15, hosted by the W.I. PEOPLE Jean Fraser and Doris Jacklin attended the Molesworth W.I. meeting to hear a speaker on nutrition on Tuesday evening. Jean Fraser and Margaret Mc­ Mahon were voting delegates to the Guelph area convention on Wednes­ day and Thursday at the Maryhill Knights of Columbus Hall. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Rick Schnock on the arrival of their baby son. 4HCLUB On Nov.. 2 the Prime Cuts of the Ethel 2 4H Club held their fifth meeting at Beth Earl’s. The meeting began with the 4H pledge and the roll call naming the kinds of organ meat that are eaten. Having completed the paperwork the game of Win, Lose or Draw was played, using all the different cuts of beef and expressions learned. Everyone then had a chance to put their thoughts on what 4H means to them on paper using the finger painting method. The members were each given the chance to make their own super-sandwich using beef. The meeting was closed with the 4H motto.
