PS students hold Halloween assembly GRADE 8 ASSEMBLY by Nikki Snell and Erin Bolger On Monday, October 31 the grade 8 class performed a play called “Curses Foiled Again.” The parts were played by: Nell, Michelle Nesbit; Bruce Goodguy, Jason Elliott; Nasturtium Colfax, III, Conrad Bos; Friendly Sheriff, Craig Roulston; Narrators, Erin Bolger, Sarah Allan, Chrystal Cuck- sey, Heidi Scrimgeour; Mother, DawnGross; Ladies, Nikki Snell, Andrea Henry, Karin Lee, Danielle McDougall. The back stage crew included Mike McNichol and Kevin Ansley. Pianist was Mrs. Shirley Vincent. Nikki Snell, Andrea Henry and Heidi Scrimgeour sang “Some­ where Out There.” Erin Bolger, Sarah Allan and Chrystal Cucksey sang “Take a Chance.” There was also a piano solo by Danielle McDougall and a gymnas­ tic routine by Erin Bolger, Danielle McDougall and Michelle Nesbit. Chris Mason read a Thanksgiving poem and Chris Caldwell was the announcer. The assembly was a good beginn­ ing to a very busy Halloween Day at Blyth Public School. Other activities that followed included Halloween parties in individual classes, a Halloween Danceforgrades3-8, aCostume Parade in the gym and a visitation to Queen’s Villa by the grade 2 class. OPEN HOUSE by John Ramirez On the night of Thursday, October 27, parents joined students at the Blyth Public School for Open House. It was a time for parents and teachers to meet in an informal setting. There were displays of student’s art work and more. In the gymnasi­ um, members ofthe Audio Visual Club demonstrated some computer games. We hope the parents learned more about Blyth Public School and their children and we hope they had fun. A VISIT TO QUEEN’S VILLA On Halloween Day, the grade 2 class and their teacher Mrs. Laurie Little visited the residents of Queen’s Villa. The students, all dressed in various costumes, intro­ duced themselves and told their hosts the names of their parents and where they lived. Obituaries LILLIAN ELIZABETH PATTERSON Lillian Patterson of Blyth died at Clinton Public Hospital on Wednes­ day.Oct.26, 1988. She was in her 61st year. She was born Lillian Elizabeth MacDonald, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bert MacDonald of Goderich, who survive her. Also surviving are her husband, William Patterson of Blyth and children Brian Pollock, Goderich; Wayne Pollock, Chat­ ham; Brent Pollock, Goderich and Sharon and Janice Pollock of London, as well as three grandchild­ ren. Shewasthestep-motherofMrs. Cheryl McLeod, Dungannon; Mrs. Dale Black, Blyth; Mrs. Debra Verwey of Auburn; Richard Patter­ son of Dungannon; Mrs. Heather Verwey of Auburn and Audrey Patterson of Owen Sound. She is also survived by 12 step-grandchildren. She was the dear sister of George MacDonald of Wiarton, Mrs. Thel­ ma Nivens of Goderich, Mrs. Shirley Beech of Kitchener, Bruce MacDon­ ald of British Columbia, Mrs. Barbara McClinchey of London and Mac MacDonald of British Colum­ bia. The funeral service took place Saturday, Oct. 29, 1988 from the Tasker Funeral Home in Blyth. Interment was in Ball’s Cemetery, Hullett township. WILFRED JOHN [JACK] WARWICK Wilfred John (Jack) Warwick of Brussels passed away on October 26, 1988 at UDiversity Hospital, London. He was born in Morris township 76 years ago, the son of the late George Warwick and the former Louise Higgins. He married the former Berva Parr who predeceased him in 1987. Surviving are one son, Jim and his wife Nancy of Exeter, grandchildren Lorraine, Dianne and Melanie, one sister, Isabelle Shortreed of Walton and one brother, Lloyd Warwick of Bluevale. He was predeceased by two brothers James and Robert. The funeral service took place Oct. 23.1988 from the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Homes, Brussels. Rev. David Nicholson officiated. Interment was in Brus­ sels Cemetery. GLENN GARVIN SMITH Glenn Garvin Smith of Brussels died at his residence October 28, 1988. He was 74 years of age. He was born in Morris township, the son of the late David Smith and the former Clara Crawford. He married the former Isabel Ella (Thynne) Smith. She predeceased him in April, 1988. He is survived by two daughters, Marlene and her husband Jim Yuill and Juanita and her husband Doug Dale, all of Brussels and two grandsons, Garry and Glenn. Also surviving are two sisters, Harriett, Mrs. Tom Miller of Morris township and Clara, Mrs. Art Ruttan of Dundalk. Two brothers, Joe and Bruce, predeceased him. The funeral service was held Oct. 29.1988 from the Brussels Chapel of the M.L. Watts Funeral Homes with Rev. PatNunnofficiating. Interment was in Brussels Cemetery.
