Phone 526-7589 Joint service planned Rev. Snihur conducted the morn­ ing service at Knox United Church, Auburn and Mrs. Gordon Gross was organist. There was an early hymn­ sing. The flowers in the sanctuary were from the funeral of the late Mrs. Bill Patterson. Call to Worship was read alternately followed by the hymn “TheSolid Rock". Rev. Snihurgave the Prayer of Approach and the Lord’s Prayer was said in unison. The junior choir, under the direction of Karen Webster and Bernice Gross, sang two anthems, "Jesus loves the little children," and ‘‘I’m a Christian’’. The announcements were given. "Holy, Holy" was sung. Rev. Snihur gave the scripture readings from Micah and James followed by the prayer chorus, ‘‘Silently now I wait for Thee." Rev. Snihur’s sermon was entitled ‘‘People with a Purpose’’. The offering was received by Lawrence Plaetzer and Murray Rollinson and dedicated, followed by the offera- tory response, “We give Thee but Thine Own’’. The hymn, ‘‘Jesus shall reign" was sung. The minister pronounced the benediction follow­ ed by the benediction response, “Reach Out, Reach Out to Others". Walkerburn Club holds party A masquerade party was held at the home of Mrs. Joe Verway on Tuesday evening, Oct. 25 at 8 p.m. Mrs. Verway opened the door and greeted folks from Farmer Jack to the busy paint lady. Prizes were won by Mrs. Len Archambault, Mrs. Lloyd Penfound, Mrs. Elliott Lapp and Mrs. B. Thomson. The secre­ tary’s and treasurer’s reports were both given with the president Mrs. Len Archambault in charge. For the November meeting, Mrs. Roy Daer offered her home and if the weather does not co-operate Mrs. Moore will welcome the club to her home. The program committee will be Mrs. Roy Daer, Mrs. J. Verwey with Mrs. B. Thomson and Mrs. B. Norman in charge of the lunch. Mrs. J. Verwey moved and Mrs. B. Thomson seconded that the executive remain the same. The draw for the afghan then took place. Mrs. J. Verwey made the afghan and the lucky winner was Mrs. Len Archambault. It was decided if there is another bazaar, the club will get a table there. The club draw was then taken and Mrs. Roy Daer won the prize, donated by Mrs. B. Norman. Mrs. B. Thomson and Mrs. B. Norman, the program committee, then conducted contests: “How often do we eat our words", won by Mrs. I. Moore. The contest “pies" was won in a tie by Mrs. Len Archambault and Mrs. Elliott Lapp. Delicious pumpkin pie with cream was then served by Mrs. Penfound and Mrs. Len Archam­ bault. A social half hour closed this year’s Halloween party and then the goblins went off in the night. Continued from page 15 There will be no church at Knox United Church next Sunday, as members are invited to Londesboro Church for 11 a.m. service. The first night of the Auburn Silver Tops card games was this Tuesday, October 25 and will be every Tuesday night at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall. Meeting planned The Horticulture Society meeting will be held at the Community Hall, Wednesday, November 9 at 8 p.m. The meeting will hear from nursery folks on "How best to care for our shrubs and plants?" Ladies high was Mrs. Don Haines; low ladies, Miss C. Cunningham; high man, Don Haines; low man, Clarence Allen. The novelty prize was won by Miss Cunningham. People Don’t forget that on Friday, November 18 is Mary Rollinson’s 100th birthday. There will be a reception at her home from 1:30- 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. All are invited.
